We are currently seeking a Project Manager (proposed effort) to serve at our facility in Bethesda, Maryland.

  • Understands and ensures staff follows all SOP's and Quality Assurance Standards.

  • On-site supervision to ensure that all functions of the contract are carried out in an efficient, courteous and professional manner.

  • Generate monthly progress report and other related reports.

  • Ensure that contract requirements are met, including proper staffing, training and AALAS certification requirements.

  • Facilitate, and supervising when appropriate, all activities concerning contract personnel and project management.

  • Oversight and management of the quality assurance and control activities of the animal facilities. To include, but not limited to, weekly facility walk-through, sentinel submission, feed and bedding submission, water testing and environmental testing.

  • Monitoring of animal care, husbandry and other technical support activities while ensuring the safety, security, and physical environment of the facilities and personnel.

  • Assist in the creation/revision of SOP's with contract, and government personnel.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of relationships with representatives of government, research, and contract personnel in order to coordinate activities and assist in investigations into matters concerning quality and client complaints.

  • Assist in personnel matters in collaboration with supervisory staff to include hiring and disciplinary issues.

  • Directly responsible for daily supervision of a contract.

  • Provide oversight, supervision, and scheduling for the contract staff.

  • Report any abnormal conditions of the animal facilities and motor vehicles, or immediate vicinity to appropriate contract, government personnel.

  • Participate in interviews and selection of all personnel.

  • Always think safety first when performing daily duties.

  • Communicate daily with Assistant Project Manager on facility and animal related issues, personnel issues, maintenance updates and project status.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

Experience Required:

  • BS degree in biology, animal science, or similar discipline preferred, and/or AALAS certification (LATG), ILAM, CMAR.

  • 2-4 years supervisory and management experience.

  • Ability to manage and supervise multiple and complex labor categories.

  • Ability to maintain operation and quality control of up to two tasks.
