Overview

RES is seeking a Project Manager I with 3+ years of experience (and 2+ years of exposure to project management) based out of our Sacramento or San Francisco offices (telework option available).

The mission: RES currently is expanding our activities in the Western U.S., and this position will be managing smaller projects while supporting other project managers on more complex, challenging projects. The Project Manager I would learn office programs/systems and would be responsible for the budgets on the projects they are managing. This individual would be able to learn and grow in the Project Management group and take on projects with more complexity over time.

We are looking for a goal oriented and detailed individual with good communication skills who enjoys collaboration with interdisciplinary teams within RES including the Regulatory, Design, Ecology, and Construction groups. You will also represent RES before the community and have the ability to drive a project from conception to successful completion under the guidance of a senior level project manager.

RES' West Region is a tight-knit group of project managers, ecologists, designers, and other ecological restoration professionals. We have multiple large-scale projects that are exciting to work on and dozens of additional smaller-scale, but equally interesting projects. This is the place to spread your wings and really take flight! Come join our growing team!

What your day-to-day might look like?

You will be outlining a project schedule, task list, and budget and managing smaller projects with the oversight of a senior project management team member. Projects may include the development of mitigation banks, permittee responsible mitigation projects, and other mitigation solutions. In addition to the project management tasks, you will be supporting senior project managers on various aspects of more complex projects such as coordination with internal staff and subcontractors, document preparation, research, and preparation for meetings with resource agency personnel and stakeholders. RES works in a variety of habitats across the western United States, and projects may include anything from the restoration of desert ecosystems to the restoration of complex wetland habitats. This role will involve supporting existing projects in all project phases (entitlement, interim monitoring, and long term monitoring).

Familiarity with some of the regulatory requirements of the state of California as well as some level of ecological/biological/botanical knowledge of California habitats and ecosystems is an essential plus. You will be interacting with our project accounting team, supporting the revenue recognition process and the delivery of the financial reporting of your projects, so a desire to learn aspects of business financials is important.

  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication and an ability to work well with a diverse group of project professionals and ecologists

  • A natural curiosity and interest in learning about and helping preserve/ restore habitat for California wildlife and plants

What will make you stand out?

  • Experience with the ecological skillsets tailored to the state of California and other western states including restoration ecology

  • Botanical, wildlife, and/or wetland delineation related fieldwork in natural California habitats

  • Exposure to environmental restoration design, natural resource evaluation and permitting, and mitigation plan development
