Reporting to and working closely with the Director and the Dean for Industry Engagement and Conflicts of Interest, the Project Manager will have an essential role in evaluating projects and managing work flow. Although the specific focus of the role is financial conflicts of interest, strong general project management and communication skills are key to success in this position. As a member of the Conflicts of Interest team, the Project Manager will interact and collaborate regularly with COI Office colleagues, as well as with faculty and administrative staff throughout the School of Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as a resource for matters related to conflicts of interest, including Mount Sinai policies and procedures, as well as becoming familiar with the external conflicts of interest environment

  • Conducting project review, analysis and evaluation;

  • Creating and maintaining supporting documentation for projects;

  • Coordinating committee meetings and maintaining detailed meeting minutes;

  • Reviewing and evaluating personal contracts/personal consulting agreements;

  • Using database and Excel spreadsheets to input, sort and retrieve information;

  • Maintaining office statistics and metrics for periodic reports and process improvement projects;

  • Creating reports and presentations for leadership;

  • Interacting effectively with faculty and staff to obtain, exchange and communicate information expeditiously;

  • Working effectively with other members of the Conflicts of Interest Office team to ensure the accurate and timely disposition of projects, and to meet both individual and group goals;

  • Collaborating with other School administrative groups and external parties on all matters relating to the COI Office;

  • Exercising discretion in review of confidential information; and,

  • Assisting in additional projects and duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or greater preferred, or combination of applicable work experience and education

  • 3+ years of relevant experience with Masters degree; 5+ years with Bachelors degree; project management-specific experience preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;

  • Strong project and task management skills, including technical skills

  • Aptitude for analyzing information and formalizing results/conclusions;

  • Ability to manage and meet critical deadlines;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Ability to handle many projects simultaneously;

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, database entry/management.

  • Basic familiarity with research terms and research environment required

  • Project management experience required

  • Prior experience in a University setting in a position involving research oversight or research coordination a plus

  • Familiarity with compliance and/or conflicts of interest issues a plus.

  • Interest and/or experience in business and/or scientific studies a plus
