SNC-Lavalin Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Atlanta, GA team as a Project Manager Highway Design.


Under direction, applies technical expertise and project management experience to manage Highway and Roadway Design teams on conventional or unconventional projects. Also performs the basic project functions of production coordination, planning, organizing, directing, controlling, financial management and marketing assistance. Functions as a mentor to technical professionals to assist in their training and development


  • Coordinates and participates in contract negotiations with clients and Subcontractors, and drafts very complex professional service agreements, arranging for their review and execution by senior management

  • Directs project team compliance with contract terms, monitors subcontractors' progress, performance and compliance with contractual commitments

  • Participates in contract dispute resolution and litigation concerning project performance, administration and other liability issues

  • Reviews and approves sub-consultant and vendor invoices, and resolves payment disputes

  • Develops, communicates and manages project quality assurance, administrative procedures, communication guidelines, project deliverable formats and specifications, and progress reporting requirements

  • Monitors schedules, billing and reports

  • Ensures appropriate charging of man-hours, costs, and expenses to projects

  • Assists in obtaining payment form clients; resolves client disputes and adjust billing records as required; communicates project progress/status to senior management and alerts them of project production, quality control or financial performance problems

  • Identifies new business opportunities to the firm, coordinates and participates in project presentations to the clients and other external groups, and promotes firm's capabilities, marketing its services among existing and prospective clients

  • Participates in project opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and in the preparation of firms' qualification/experience statements

  • Coordinates communication between internal and external associates and client, and between firm and regulatory agencies. Maintains frequent contact with clients and regulatory agency personnel to determine their respective needs and requirements, and serves as expert witness at project hearings and judicial proceedings if necessary

  • Supervises other project managers, technical professionals and other design staff including managing weekly project workload and manpower forecasting

  • Conducts project management training workshops and serves as mentor to associate project managers

  • Monitors and reports financial status of projects to technical managers

  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary

Design Project Manager (DPM) Katerra is expanding its design project management capabilities at its San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta and Phoenix locations. For the Design Project Manager (DPM) role, we are looking for confident and capable leaders that can direct a cross disciplinary team of architects, designers, engineers, manufacturing and estimating staff to deliver projects from conception through the building opening and handoff to facilities. The DPM will act as the lead to deliver the project/products on time, on budget and surpassing customer expectations. The ideal candidate shall be capable of managing multiple projects at a time in various different stages and shall be able to work in a fast pace environment while keeping teams focused and on track. This individual shall have experience at various stages of development including but not limited to due diligence, estimating, contract management, people management, etc. The DPM will work closely with the Director and design team to provide the highest level of client service and design execution. On a daily basis, you will have the responsibility of the planning, procurement and execution of a project. You will communicate with support teams for documentation of permit drawings and presentation renderings, and help to coordinate between clients and our global team of internal and external partners. We are looking for candidates that are eager to coordinate different disciplines to meet Katerra's goal of building better, faster, cheaper projects and Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Works on behalf of the Vertical Director to manage project to agreed schedule, budget and specifications * Lead Katerra integrated team of architects, engineers, component designers, BIM and interior designers to deliver assigned projects to the factory & field – at quality, on budget and on time * Responsible for requesting resources from all other Katerra operations to assemble project team * Prepares project execution plan in accordance to PMO framework * Own project communication within assign projects to ensure clarity and consistency of deliverables – single source of truth on project specifics * Responsible for keeping Director informed of status, and highlights and current or emerging problems * Responsible for maintaining project dashboards * Responsible for understanding and communicating client standards and requirements * The role of the project manager in relation to the project team is to determine what work is needed to be completed in what order, and how to execute the project. This includes finances, staff and contracts associated with the project * Leads project gates and QC reviews * Collaborates with program management to integrate and align on both between project and program levels goals * Responsible for implementing agile processes on individual projects(s) * Responsible for risk mitigation across Design on a per project level Required Skills & Experience * 10+ years of Project Management experience in related markets * Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent * Strong organizational skills Excellent problem solving skills. Candidate should be energized by working with different teams, both internal and external * Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects and Teams concurrently. Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability in managing teams and project execution and delivery * Technical background with understanding of building engineering and commercial projects.
