Basic Qualifications

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening in Pittsfield, Massachusetts for a Littoral Combat Ship Senior Project Manager for the Surface Ship Platform Integration (SSPI) Business Area Segment. The position will provide primary support to the program management team for the Littoral Combat Ship production program.

The position will also support other initiatives across the Surface Ship Platform Integration portfolio as required. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:Execute contracts balancing technical objectives with cost and schedule while ensuring highest quality and meeting all contractual obligations

Maintain positive customer satisfaction with direct contact and day-to-day interactions

Plan, monitor, and control assigned programs in accordance with current company policies, common processes, and contract terms and conditions, with the highest ethical standards

Collaborate with the functional organization to maximize use of resources across the GDMS business and maintain a stable work force

Review management indicators and proactively indicate corrective action when data indicates that intervention is needed

Responsible for risk and opportunity management by working with program IPT leads to conduct detailed risk and opportunity assessments

Collaborate with Control Account Managers on SSPI workload management forecasts

Partner with GDMS Supply Chain Management to manage subcontract and major vendor relationships

Support business development by developing accurate and complete Bid and Proposals that are responsive to customer requests and achieve business objectives

Identify and support advanced concept efforts in support of Surface Systems business area strategic plans and objectives

Strive for commonality and efficiencies both within assigned programs and across the spectrum of other SSPI programs

Champion and support cost saving initiatives and operational improvements using Six Sigma processes

Follow industry trends and pursue technology innovation to ensure GDMS' products and services are cost competitive and superior to industry best practices

Provide detailed forecasts and result analysis involving SSPI Financial Management BenchmarksProvide expertise and leadership on Earned Value Management Organization, Planning, Scheduling, Budgeting, Analysis and Management ReportsResponsibility to meet corporate business objectives relating to revenue, margin, quality, and on-time delivery KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Fluent in MS Office Tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS ProjectKnowledge of GDMS business processes and program management tools, including EVMS and Control Account ManagementDemonstrated background solving technical challenges as a project manager

Demonstrated experience communicating technical, schedule, and financial information

Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal

Demonstrated experience in a matrixed organization, motivating non-direct reports to meet program objectives

Very solid understanding of the fundamentals of risk and opportunity management and ability to apply them to projects

Very solid ability to identify issues, track progress, and follow through on effective corrective actions based on data analysis and trends

Demonstrated experience in financial and workload forecasting

Ability to translate customer requirements into program planning, scheduling, and task allocations

Negotiation skills

Willingness to travel

Responsibilities for this Position General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Sr. Project Manager in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The selected candidate's primary focus will be in support of Production efforts for tactical and auxiliary systems for Shipboard programs used in our nation's strategic deterrent and will work with other PMs and integrated product teams to direct all Production phases of current programs. The selected candidate will also work directly with the Strategic Systems Program (SSP) Special Project 23 (SP23) Branch Program Managers to assure successful accomplishment of the SP23 mission and initiatives.
