Position Summary Information

Objective

To provide project management in the planning, design, construction, close-out, move-in, and warranty phases of multiple new construction and renovation projects. To manage, maintain, and update the electronic documents and drawings for all existing and future facilities.

Principal Accountabilities

Principal Accountabilities

1.Assists in the development, presentation and review of proposed solutions with end user representatives, design consultants, and services vendors to ensure project scope meets college's needs; reviews design progress to ensure compliance with project scope, budget, schedule, and quality standards in accordance with college standards.

2.Assists in the direction and management of the overall design and construction phases to meet the established project scope, budget and schedule; meets with local community committees and stakeholders to resolve potential problems and address concerns.

3.Schedules progress coordination meetings and periodic field inspections to ensure completed work in place is acceptable and in accordance with the design intent and satisfies the client's needs and completion timeline; addresses or corrects discovered conditions to ensure continued operation, life safety and security of the educational environment.

4.Prepares reports to update project status to facilities and operations division, campus managers, District leadership and other stakeholders, including any community committees.

5.Reviews, suspends/rejects or approves services invoices and commodity procurements; monitors payment processing with other departments to ensure timely processing of vendor payments; verifies that services or commodities invoices are complete and satisfactory.

6.Maintains and updates the spatial database by calculating the square footages from the architectural floor plans and transferring to the database

7.Provides drawing support for both the in-house renovation projects and projects contracted to other A/E firms; generates sketches and plans; prepares reproductions of existing drawings.

8.Verifies dimensions of walls, doors, and renovations in existing buildings; develops and updates master drawings using Autodesk software.

9.Insures the integrity of the electronic drawing files on the server; corrects and repairs damaged files.

  1. Manages and coordinates the occupancy phase of construction projects including scheduling and receiving deliveries, inspecting and cross referencing deliveries with purchase orders, confirming completeness of deliveries and installations, user move in, and the transition from a construction project to a user occupied facility.

  1. Manage and coordinate the warranty phase of construction projects including assessing warranty claims, managing and tracking warranty work items, assisting in scheduling warranty work items, scheduling and attending a 9 month warranty walk-thru.

  1. Assist in the development of the annual repairs and renovations budget including review and verification of the current facility condition assessment.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, and construction management.

  • Regulations regarding accessibility and hazardous materials found in buildings.

  • Project planning and management principles.

  • Budget preparation, bid and purchasing procedures, and expense control.

  • Principles and practices of commercial architecture and construction techniques.

  • Principles and practices used in advanced Autodesk software, specifically AutoCad and Revit software operation and application.

  • Building construction codes and standards.

  • Methods of calculating areas within buildings and properties and recording measurements.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or related field.

Work Experience:

Three years related work experience.

  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, and presentation software including facility condition assessment software and computer aided design software.

Preferred Qualifications

1.Professional registration in Engineering or Architecture

2.4 years or more of experience in construction project management, preferably in the public or academic sector.
