This position can be located in our Houston, TX, or Alpharetta, GA, office Primary Purpose:Provides engineering support to operations and maintenance personnel and manages small capital and major maintenance projects or portions of larger new capital or major maintenance projects

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages small or portions of large capital and major maintenance projects

Prepares estimates, budgets, schedules, materials and contract specifications for projects

Coordinates design and construction activities with operations, field personnel, procurement, engineering, and construction contractors and manages projects to ensure on budget and on schedule completion

Reviews and coordinates operational & maintenance plans for new facilities and equipment and implements with field personnel

Evaluates and recommends new technologies for potential application

Provides support to field maintenance technicians and operations staff

Maintains Company technical standards, handbooks, and design criteria

Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for new construction and maintenance activities

Manages multiple projects concurrently Appropriately communicates with his/her manager on status and developments of projects assigned and /or in progress *Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of successful candidate.

Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
Education:Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering or other engineering degree with work experience equivalent to ME, EE, or Civil or Chemical engineering degree

Experience / specific knowledge:5 - 8 years practical engineering experience in refining/pipeline / petroleum terminals / utility field(s)Understanding of and ability to apply basic engineering principles Project management experience singly on small projects or portions of larger projects under the guidance of or review by a more experienced engineer Certifications, licenses and registrations:Possess and maintain valid driver's license and be insurable by company's insurance carrier Competencies, skills and abilities:Ability to apply engineering principles

Analytical problem solver

Ability to conduct feasibility studies, determine manpower, cost estimates, and develop engineering criteria

Ability to coordinate and manage small projects or portions of larger projects under the guidance of or review by a more experienced engineer

Ability to use Microsoft Office System (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be able to setup and manipulate complex Excel spread sheets

Ability to read and effectively communicate orally and in writing in English with co-workers, vendors, customers, contractors, and regulatory officials

Ability to cooperatively work with people and accept supervision and direction Physical demands:Ability to handle stress of meeting deadlines

Ability to climb tank stairs and walk over uneven surfaces on the pipeline right of way or at field facilities Working conditions:Essentially indoors, but must be able to work outdoors in project & maintenance activities

Travel 30% - 50% with overnight stays Supervisory responsiblity:Must be able to manage projects through contractors and others without direct supervisory authority Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills and abilities (above the minimum requirements, but not required:Professional Engineering license

Electrical OR Hydraulic expertise Electrical:Experience in design and operation of industrial power systems including 4160/480V distribution systems, motor controls, VFDs, PLC schematics, and pressure/flow/level/temperature/vibration measurement instrumentation

Proficiecy in electrical system studies using analysis tools such as ETAP and SKM Hydraulic:Experience evaluating in-service liquid pipeline hydraulics

Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting and applying engineering principles, theories and concepts related to hydraulic flow and energy efficiency.Experience with third-party hydraulic evaluation or modeling software applications for both transient and steady-state analysis.

Engineering Project Manager Responsibilities * The primary responsibility of this position is to work with the business and technical team to determine the scope of the project, product requirements, project plan and schedule, and assign activities to the team members responsible for delivery. * Under broad supervision, manage one or more large internal, outsourced or customer-funded projects involving multiple disciplines, departments or centers. * Develop and negotiate approval for the project charter and scope, assist financial analysis, ensure completion of technical and detailed product specifications, manage project creep and ensure complete and accurate project release. * With collaboration, define project requirement and develop strategy and plan with execution schedule. * Plan and frame the team structure based on available resources. * Identify roles and responsibility of all resources and monitor progress and provide prompt feedback on performance of each individual with recommendation on improvement. * Churn out external resources/vendors and tools that will be required in doing the project. * Coordinate and maintain close communication strategy with manufacturing, supply chain, operation, finance and business to ensure roles and responsibilities of each function is clear. * Pinpoint the project stages and measure the task in progress at regular interval. * Hold technical reviews, coordinate planning for validation of the product, conduct field test and commercialize the product. Experience in using Stage Gate product development and ability to manage multiple projects is a must. * Make corrective measures to overcome the possible causes leading to project delay. * Make critical decisions to update plan and mitigate technical and non-technical risks. * Report regularly on project progress with regard to budget, timeline, milestones, and deliverables. * Responsible for delivering the project, on time, on budget, and with the right specifications. Qualifications and skills * Minimum degree level Bachelors. PhD is preferred. Minimum work experience 8 years (10-15 is preferred). * Experience in managing a team and project (Minimum 3 years, desired 6+ years) * Recommended degrees EE, ME, CHE. * Knowledge and experience in reliability analysis and Six Sigma is a plus * Knowledge and experience in systems engineering and software development * Knowledge and experience in oil field operations is preferred * Advanced time management and analytical skills * Excellent communication skills Halliburton is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
