OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Project Manager to contribute to the company's growing power generation practice based in our Chattanooga, TN office. The business is currently comprised of heavy retrofit projects in fossil fuel and hydroelectric power plants and greenfield projects involving CHP and renewable resources.

The typical annual pay range for this position is $130,000.00 - $170,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This position is multidimensional in nature and requires elements of project management, team building, and client relationship building. Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee project planning, technical leadership, quality control, and client satisfaction.

  • Work in a design team environment, directing and delegating the work of junior engineers and designers.

  • Meet with clients to prepare and or validate the proposed scope of work. This work includes client development, proposal assistance, project planning, estimating, scheduling, and establishing project controls.

  • Grow Merrick's existing client base and manage the multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Project managers with an existing base in the Chattanooga area are preferred.

  • Communicate and coordinate design efforts while staying within established schedule and budget.

  • Contribute to corporate and business unit strategic planning efforts.

  • Assist in the development of annual business plans capturing detailed operational and sales objectives.

  • Inform engineering discipline leads of resource requirements.

  • Potentially serve as an account manager for key clients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering Required.

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience of project execution in the power sector.

  • Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.

  • Strong understanding of the power sector, including projects and utilities.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management for A-E firms,

  • Knowledge of industry best practices including front-end planning and VIP.

  • Ability to travel to client sites, approximately one week a month.

  • Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Local/Regional power experience and strong business relationships.

  • Professional Engineering License.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
