This position can be located in any of our South Region Engineering offices.

Manage all aspects of complex DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems), Small Cells, and Alternative Coverage Solutions projects throughout the project life cycle - including project scope, resources, quality control, construction, acceptance, and close out. Strong understanding of In-Building Wireless system and Public Venue DAS deployments including DAS OEM gear and Carrier specific OEM equipment. Experience working with elemenT and/or cell site build plan tracking applications. Ability to work closely with stakeholders to define project parameters then translate customer needs into formal requirements using knowledge of the industry and delivery methodology. Develop detailed project schedules, resource plans, and status reports. Ability to effectively manage small to large scale DAS and Small Cell technical projects and report on status throughout the deployment lifecycle. Interface with multiple stakeholders including RF Engineering, Operations, Site Development, Legal, DAS and BTS OEMs, and installation vendors. Review project deliverables for accuracy and apprise management of risks, issues, and recommended mitigation. Ensure timely build-out of DAS and Small Cells projects and post all project closure documentation to archive appropriate records.

Desired Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience with managing all aspects of technical DAS projects from basic In-Building wireless systems to complex Public Venue DAS environments.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience working on projects in the Wireless industry, specifically small to large Public Venue DAS and Small Cell technologies.

  • Working knowledge of DAS and Small Cell equipment, deployment methodologies, and integration processes.

  • 3rd Party Operator relations and experience deploying DAS networks in Neutral Host / Multi- Carrier environments.

  • Experience managing projects remotely and coordinating multiple vendors to build DAS and Small Cell networks.

  • Ability to coordinate complex projects between technical teams and business stakeholders.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office - MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • DRAN / CRAN deployment and configuration experience with multiple OEM vendors.

  • Strong written and verbal communication / presentation skills including the ability to effectively communicate with all employee and management levels.

  • Solid understanding of general accounting and costing practices including budgeting, invoicing, purchase orders, and accounts payable.

  • Ability to effectively negotiate with and manage general contractors and vendors in a fast-paced network deployment environment.

  • Strong understanding of DAS and O-DAS construction and wireless development processes.

  • Preferred strong technical / RF Engineering background in Wireless systems including 3G, 4G, & 5G deployments.

  • In-Building RF Design Engineering and DAS performance optimization experience along with general RF link budget knowledge.


Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Business, Engineering, or equivalent Cellular Carrier relate experience and training in lieu of degree.

  • Advanced Degree in Business, Engineering, or Project Management a plus.

  • Hands-on DAS and Small Cell deployment experience and training preferred.

License or Certification

DAS and Carrier specific OEM certifications desired.

Requires technical competency with DAS and BDA equipment, Carrier OEM specific equipment and configurations, customer focus, management of highly technical deployments, change & innovation, strategic thinking, relationship building and influencing, and technical vendor management.


Essential Functions:

  • Manage technical DAS and Small Cell deployment projects in the South Region.

  • Facilitate risk management based on identified risks and undertake appropriate mitigation and escalation where required. Examine risks associated with the work and make recommendations to solve deployment issues.

  • Develop strong working relationships with team members and foster the development of cross-functional teamwork to ensure high quality and timely delivery of DAS and Small Cell construction projects.

  • Interface effectively with local market deployment teams, RF & Performance Engineering, Field Operations, Property Management, Regulatory, Legal, and external installation vendors where necessary to drive In-Building and Small Cell projects to completion.

  • Identify and propose alternative solutions to management regarding obstacles, resources, and other deployment issues. Follow appropriate procedure to escalate potential issues to achieve resolution.

  • Develop and update project schedules/plans with forecasted and actual deliverables and manage any deviations from plan.

  • Monitor high level project progress, compare to baseline, and ensure progress against schedule.

  • Conduct project reviews with stakeholders as necessary to perform ongoing assessments on the progress of projects.

  • Document, obtain approval, and track all changes in project parameters. Review detailed reports and notifications as appropriate and communicate project status to project sponsor(s) and/or management.

This role is responsible for delivering a solution to the store owner using appropriate business measurements and tools per the project setup agreement. This position has overall performance responsibility for selling, managing scope, cost, schedule and contractual deliverables for the project. This includes applying techniques for consultative selling, planning, tracking, change control and risk management. What you'll be doing * Align with Ace's values, mission and vision of being helpful in all aspects of your role with internal and external stakeholders. * Consult and close sales of retail projects using consultative selling skills during meetings with prospective retailers, conversion retailers, branch store candidates as well as renovation projects for existing retailers. * Inspire and motivate to action; prospects, retailers as well as Ace stakeholders to ensure maximum project penetration throughout the Project Managers respective territory. Regularly meet with retailers with the purpose to educate and inform on the benefits of a store renovation. This can be one-on-one or in a group setting. * Plan and develop scope of retail projects for expansion, relocation, renovation, conversion and new ground up stores. Partner with Ace District Managers. Provide the DM the tools to have a meaningful discussion with their retailers on the benefits of a store renovation. Coordinate with the DM to develop a store renovation prospect list and develop a strategy to consult with the prospects on the benefits of a renovation. * Manage all resources both internal and external to meet established schedules for all projects assigned. * Assess the retail potential in key existing Ace markets for the opportunity to "Right Size - Right Place" the store to maximize Ace market share by working closely with the appropriate stakeholders. * Provide support in the review of potential real estate locations in cooperation with appropriate stakeholders to determine, from a project stand point, the locations' feasibility. Review and ensure Landlord tenant criteria and construction portions of lease are thoroughly evaluated and communicate such with all internal partners. * Track and maintain project updates via the current corporate project management tools. This will require updating of the system of various project tasks. * Periodically visit sites on all assigned projects to ensure proper installation of all work, administer punch list review and turnover to retailer and District Manager upon completion.
