Gain Theory has an opening in New York City, USA for a Senior Data Manager in the area of marketing analytics and reporting. In this role you will direct data management efforts, leading operational activities as well as contribute strategically to our growing efforts in Big Data Analytics (think Amazon Web Services, Hadoop, Vertica, Python, R, SAS, etc.). Data and Analytics is one of the fastest growing fields within Gain Theory and focuses on (1) platforms for managing data and performing analytics, (2) providing data and analytics services to clients, (3) developing new products, methods and algorithms used for data and analytics and (4) creating compelling data visualizations for actionable insights.

The Senior Data Manager will assist in the data management for a large CPG client, servicing multiple use cases around advanced analytics as well as visual analytics. This role will be critical in project management and client leadership, ensuring consistent and quality output on data management and analytics projects for the client. The Senior Data Manager will be key interface for clients and will work closely with the Client Engagement Director to provide data management support and ensure client expectations are met.
Manage data processing for analytics and/or dash boarding projects from start to finish.
Provide overall technical guidance and recommend on best-in-class tech in data management & processing
Create efficient, automatable, and repeatable data processes and then train team members
Provide leadership on optimal data processes
Manage schedules and overall project status to ensure requirements and project deliverable dates are clearly communicated, understood and executed upon with both internal and client stakeholders
Actively manage project risks to recognize/predict potential problems and proactively identify solutions to address.
Ability to coordinate tasks across multiple team members and work streams.
Collaborate across Gain Theory, including with remote team members globally.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, client/services focus and the ability to support and enable teamwork.
Self-motivated and able to operate independently with limited guidance and direction.
Ability to manage daily client communications and requests.
Mentor junior team members from a technical aspect.
Willingness to perform data management activities
BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, Statistics or related technical field required.
5-7+ years related work experience in data management and analysis. Specific experience with data management for attribution modeling, media mix modeling, or predictive sales modeling is a plus.
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations
Organized, detail-oriented, QA-focused
Experience with the full development life cycle of an analytical application stack from raw data ingestion through to analytical outputs.
Knowledge of SQL and experience working with at least one of the major databases platforms (SQLServer, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, Sybase, or Postgres).
Deeper experience with MS SQL Server / SSIS / SSAS strongly preferred
Understanding of digital/media/marketing data sources and metrics preferred: Digital (e.g. Web, Social, Display, Search etc.); Media (e.g. buying models, CPU, Impressions, GRP); Measurement analytics, Quantitative business measures (Adstock, ROI, Churn, etc.); Statistics (Correlations, sample sizing, etc.)
Experience with visualization techniques for data analysis and presentation (Tableau is preferred)
Experience in working with, managing and mentoring teams preferred
Experience in machine learning techniques is a plus
Knowledge of data mining tools (Python, R, and Vertica) specifically within the area of developing productized analytical workflows.
Experience with web/application development is a plus.
General knowledge of standard modeling techniques: regression, decision trees, clustering, and Bayesian techniques is a plus
Process-driven project management a plus
