The Project Manager will play an essential role in the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)-funded randomized controlled trial, testing the efficacy of the original videogame, PlaySmart. This project is funded by NIDA through the Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) initiative. The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation activities of the lab on a daily and ongoing basis, ensuring the integrity of protocols, accurate data collection, analysis, quality assurance and regulatory monitoring, scheduling of sites for follow-up data collection, managing project budgets and training based upon priorities. The Project Manager will also assist with IRBs (Institutional Review Board) and overall management and coordination of tasks related to the project. The Project Manager serves as an integral team member in the engagement, facilitation, and successful integration of this project with external stakeholder activities within the state of Connecticut, as well as research partners in multiple other states collaborating on this project. The Project Manager also serves as an integral team member in the dissemination of findings.

Description Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a related field plus seven years of experience OR a master's degree in a related field plus two years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skill in use of computer databases for tracking, reporting, and recordkeeping purposes. Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills.

Excellent prioritization, interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

High level of integrity and an extraordinary work ethic; desire to be in a fast-paced, positive environment.

Meticulous attention to detail; organized, efficient and able to function while completing numerous, simultaneous, high-priority tasks.

Ability to interact confidently with an array of outside stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Two to four years experience in field research, or the equivalent.

Demonstrated experience in building relationships with external constituencies.

Key Accountabilities

Description

Research Management

Develops working relationships with the diverse stakeholders (I.e., school boards, school administration, school site champions, school-based health center personnel, adolescents, and parent/guardians).

Establishes and coordinates study procedures in adherence to protocol requirements.

Assures that all Federal guidelines and requirements for use of human study participants are met.

Helps develop and track project protocols, standard operating procedures, manuals of operations, and project timelines to ensure projects and project deliverables are completed on time.

Helps lead development of data collection tools, oversees data collection processes, quality assurance and regulatory monitoring, and serves as a liaison to statistical analysts and other investigators performing statistical analyses.

Oversees and ensures timely completion of research administration processes, including developing Internal Review Board compliance.

Identifies, responds to, and participates in the resolution of potential and actual problems in study operations and participant activities.

Ensures that study activities are done in accordance with protocol, including participant recruitment and screening, and research visits.

Communicates with the Project Director, and Principal Investigators (PI) regarding study operations, achievement of study goals, participant recruitment targets, and follow-up retention rates.

Recruits and screens participants for study eligibility, completing necessary questionnaires, assessments, and paperwork.

Thoroughly explains the study, reviews all study materials with participants, and obtains informed consent.

Conducts participant study visits, including scheduling, coordination with other study team members, and documentation.

Educates staff and participants about research procedures specific to a study protocol.

Serves as a primary point of contact for inquiries related to the research project.

Helps develop communication materials, presentations, and publications.

Helps prepare required progress reports and statistical information.

Collaborates in the writing of academic manuscripts.

Maintains updates of study materials/protocols.

Monitoring:

Monitors subject participation throughout the study and ensures high participation rates are maintained.

Coordinates with study team members and/or Investigators when problems arise.

Maintains continuing contact with study participants to share information and foster study compliance.

Makes recommendations based on assessment of data collection requirements

Supervision

Trains new personnel at study sites in research procedures and methods, as needed.
