Job Overview:

As a Project Manager you will have direct responsibility over the administration and implementation of all assigned projects. You will supervise construction professionals to assure projects are completed on time, on budget and at the highest quality level. You will be the primary point of contact for the Construction and Facilities teams with regard to disseminating information and facilitating management decisions from groundbreaking to grand opening. The emphasis is on improving the customer shopping experience. You must be adaptable to change and consistently champion new initiatives that drive costs lower and save time. You must have a strong sense of urgency and work well under pressure in a collaborative team environment. Position is required to also perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Professional control and timely administration and implementation of new store, remodel and expansion projects.

  • Participate in the scope and budget development process in partnership with Preconstruction, Store Planning and Design, Facilities, the Stores Team, Real Estate and Developers. Ensure timely submission of all required information.

  • Coordinate the design development and construction document phases and provide for on-going document reviews to ensure accuracy, quality, value and compliance with best practice standards, scope and the budget.

  • Assist in the preparation of contracts for consultants and contractors.

  • Lead the bidding, negotiation and award process for assigned projects.

  • Assure the Corporation receives the best value for the lowest possible cost.

  • Coordinate and monitor procurement activities and commitments of pre-purchased materials and equipment through the National Purchase Program and internal procurement teams.

  • Oversee the construction phase of assigned projects in accordance with established policies and procedures. Establish and maintain the Budget Tracking Report. Prepare, track, and monitor all field instructions and change orders for additional work. Monitor the project and remodel phasing schedules, resolve field conflicts and implement recovery strategies to mitigate delays.

  • Complete projects on time and on/or below budget. Provide for accurate and timely project closeouts including system commissioning, punch lists, and municipal approvals.

  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality



  • Four-year college degree and at least 5 years for a Project Manager of building construction.

Communication Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Reasoning Ability

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong management know-how and interpersonal skills with ability to work in a fast paced team environment.

Physical Demands

  • This position requires regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking.

  • May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

  • Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Other Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, estimating, budget tracking and the project delivery process.

  • Strong leadership profile and excellent negotiation skills.

  • Must be familiar with the various construction methods and be knowledgeable of architectural, engineering, store planning and design principals and techniques.

  • Strong computer skills with familiarity with Lotus Notes and the Microsoft suite of programs.

Work Hours

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.

Role Summary The successful candidate will join the growing team of Electrify America, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group of America leading the implementation of the $2B Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Investment Plan. Electrify America is tasked with creating and facilitating a highly visible, reliable, interoperable and driver-oriented Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure network to support the increased adoption of Electric Vehicles in California and the rest of the United States. It will create the "Gas Stations of the Future" by investing in a range of current and future charging technologies that will provide ubiquitous access to EV drivers along highways, in metro areas, at multi-unit dwells, at workplaces and in ridesharing programs. Electrify America will also invest in initiatives to increase the awareness and education of driving electric and will support a number of strategic 'Green Cities' programs in California. Through its programs, Electrify America's investment will enable millions of Americans to discover the benefits of driving electric. The candidate will oversee the local implementation of a number of interconnected electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure projects in both metro areas and along national highway routes. The candidate will be a qualified and experienced project manager that will lead and oversee a number of vendors and contractors in their assigned region to secure property, prepare, construct and commission EV charging sites at a range of commercial, retail, municipal and mixed-use property. Responsibilities will include local vendor and contractor management, coordination with relevant project stakeholders including property owners, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), utilities and other resources to ensure successful project completion and adherence to milestones. This candidate will utilize a project management software platform to accurately forecast and project schedules, monitor equipment inventory and delivery, manage daily project tasks, collect and evaluate documentation and close-out reports, and control project costs. They will work closely with Electrify America's management team to coordinate local relationships with all project vendors, land owners, utilities, AHJs and other stakeholders. The candidate will act as a local resource for a number of Electrify America initiatives and will represent the company at local events, workshops and forums. Role Responsibilities * Leads all planning, coordination and project management of Electrify America EV infrastructure deployment efforts in assigned geographic area including metro-area and national highway network-based programs (~20%). * Provides local-level oversight and management of vendors, services providers and contractors across assigned area, ensuring adherence to program milestones, budgets, construction guidelines and quality/safety standards (~15%) * Travels frequently to project locations to support site identification and acquisition activities, coordinate design and installation plans with property ownership and management, oversee vendor progress, meet and update local stakeholder groups including utilities and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and document evidence of project progress and quality control (10%) * Assesses and tracks program performance via managing and updating tools, software and processes to ensure effective project management at all stages of program design, implementation and evaluation (~5%) * Develops and prepares monthly work schedules for each project and associated partners, vendors and stakeholders. Provides regular and transparent updates to Metro and Highway Network program managers with status reports and progress of individual projects to anticipate potential bottlenecks or delays.
