About the Position

We are seeking a talented and experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our team. The right candidate has a combination of project management and technical skills suited to lead and participate in the delivery of various public and private development and infrastructure projects. We are looking for a professional who is technically proficient, takes initiative, is a team player, and is looking for a challenge.

As a Civil Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks which may range from client meetings, financial management, schedule management, coordination of tasks and personnel, and technical leadership to mentoring of junior staff. The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading project teams in the execution of projects to ensure delivery, efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and lead the design as appropriate. The ideal candidate for this role is a proactive individual with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a passion for delivering high-quality results.

Responsibilities:

Project Delivery

  • Lead, plan, execute, and oversee all phases of site civil projects (land development; brownfields redevelopment; municipal infrastructure and community projects; campus infrastructure; public green infrastructure siting and design; stormwater management planning and design; climate resiliency; and more) ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and timeline.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, and subcontractors, to achieve project goals.

  • Conduct thorough site assessments, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to inform project decision-making.

  • Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Manage project documentation, including contracts, permits, and regulatory compliance.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to provide regular project updates and address any concerns.

  • Implement quality control processes to ensure projects meet industry standards and client expectations.

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.

Supervise and Mentor Developing Professionals

  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages professional growth and development among team members.

  • Mentor developing professionals to guide their career development objectives

  • Review team's work and provide technical guidance on design approach and challenges

  • Recognize when technical problems develop and initiate guidance for corrective actions

Support Business Development Activities

  • Lead development of technical approaches for proposals and technical aspects for project interviews conducted by clients

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field; master's degree is a plus

  • Requires at least 8 years of relevant working experience with strong site design and drainage skills

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required

  • Previous project management (contracts, business development, design, QA/QC) experience required

  • Strong AutoCAD, Civil 3D and HydroCAD knowledge; GIS is a plus

  • Experience with local & state permitting (planning, zoning, inland wetlands, highway access, etc.)

  • Strong presentation and interview skills

  • CT State Agency and Private Real Estate Developer experience is a plus

  • Strong understanding of industry regulations, codes, and standards

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to explain complex topics and lead a team of designers

  • Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
