As a Project Manager Business Systems Design FI you will manage, plan, and execute the design and implementation of computer-based enterprise business solutions for Valero's Financial functions while supervising the direct work of others and managing assigned staff. Works in close collaboration with team members, business counterparts, and other IS departments to meet the company's goals. The primary focus will be to manage and coordinate the activities to solve business problems, improve planning, control, operating results, and objectives. Will also be involved in supporting existing financial operations applications.

Work on the design and implementation of Financial projects as a project manager, manager of multiple projects, or the supervision of Leads of small projects. Capable of managing projects across multiple departments within the business and IS. Responsibilities will include the successful and reliable implementation of cost-effective highly complex systems and architecture while meeting business needs.
Support Financial applications and business users, as a project manager or lead for highly complex projects and enhancements to existing applications. It includes the use of Valero's system to track support activities.
Work on highly complex tasks for the deployment of new solutions and enhancements/fixes to existing solutions. These include, but are not limited to: troubleshooting, problem-solving, issue resolution, user interaction, training, defining systems scope, gathering requirements, documenting design & functional specifications, research and fact-finding, configuration, testing, reporting, cutover, IS coordination and business user coordination.
Establish work relationships with business users, IS departments, and Valero business partners across all departmental and functional lines at all levels and the business frontline management.
Demonstrate a broad mastery of an entire horizontal business process chain and the integration to other business processes while continuously looking for opportunities to improve, streamline, and reinvent the business process.
Help coordinate the adoption of new business procedures resulting from system/application changes, including the development of system specifications, documentation, training, and communication plans.
Performs analysis on and recommends quality highly complex solutions for business processes and stays abreast of emerging cost-effective technologies. Brings operational efficiency through information integration and management.
Understand, improve, and mentor others on the various IT methodologies, which include project management, development, service management, and system architecture.
May be required to work off-hours and on weekends for projects or support.
Some travel may be required.
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Successful candidates will have:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, or related field required.
Minimum ten years of business or I/S experience utilizing SAP required.
Five years of project management experience required.
