As we grow, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager Higher Education/Athletics market to be based in our Charlotte, NC office.

The Project Manager will be involved in business growth strategies, business development, and direct multiple disciplinary large/complex projects. This individual will manage Design and Planning projects including oversight of the design process through construction administration, coordinating with the design team, our higher education/ athletic clients and their leadership to ensure quality deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget. Our Project Managers manage and assist projects in multiple regions/states by providing design services and working with cross-functional teams to develop detailed deliverables. This is a highly-niched role with a strong focus on clients and business development.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and communicate business growth opportunities and serve as a Higher Education/ Athletics Subject Matter Expert during the sales cycle and implementation including building new relationships that match the client and project type focus and overall business strategy of the southeast practice area.

  • Meet with prospective clients to discuss their evolving needs and assess the opportunities for our firms AEG services to support them

  • Participate in the practices marketing and sale activities and lead interview teams

  • Monitor overall quality of the project performance and the product, and delivery to clients

  • Involved with regional, state and national organizations

  • Direct and collaborate with cross-functional teams across all project phases from conceptual/preliminary design, detailed design, and construction

  • Ensure deliverables and quality standards are met in accordance with the agreed scope, schedule, and budget

  • Manage and support internal and client cross-functional teams

  • Develop and implement corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident

  • Facilitate client-facing change management and provide on-going communication throughout the project

  • Manage, monitor, and forecast metrics including Profit and Loss, Sales and Utilization, and Net Revenue for the portfolio

  • Accountable for the successful delivery of assigned projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field from an accredited school

  • Active Licensed Architect

  • LEED AP or within 2 years of hire is ideal

  • Minimum of 12-15+ years of experience in related Architecture work experience with at least 5 years of experience in High Education and/or Athletics

  • Must be able to travel 25-30% to client sites

  • Exceptional design portfolio with representative projects in Higher Education/Athletics (in the Carolinas/ Southeast)

  • Strong knowledge of project design process, construction documentation & administration and knowledge in state, local municipalities design process in a plus

  • AutoCAD/Revit knowledge is strongly preferred

  • Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationship and build new ones with annual sales goals

  • Experience negotiating and managing project scope and fees as well as risk management and financial accountability

  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills

  • Ability to direct and coordinate work efforts of other technical and junior staff

  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn

  • Collaborative and professional work ethic

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment; offer constructive feedback and direction to support goals
