The Business Development manager will report to the Managing Director, National Strategic Markets & Community Lending; will be responsible for development and execution of targeted market strategies to increase sales production and market share for Community Lending, with an emphasis on the First Time Home Buyer, Low-to-Moderate-Income (LMI) and Multicultural customer segments. This role is responsible for creating and identifying viable business opportunities.

Major Responsibilities:

Develop, implement an execute effective sourcing strategies that leverage strategic partnerships, realtors, non-profits and other organizations to source new referral partners and business opportunities for the sales organization,

Develop local/regional level strategies for existing and prospective partners to enhance the relationships in order to create incremental business opportunities.

Works with Regional and Divisional Sales Managers to identify Mortgage Loan Originators who can provide support for Community Reinvestments Act and multicultural strategies.

Conducts and facilitates events such as Relator Summits to drive new business by educating existing and prospective partners about US Bank products and services as well as current mortgage industry trends.

Drive and lead viable initiatives that will generate new/enhanced business opportunities.

Strategically sponsors and participates in outreach activities with key local/regional partners.

Engages internal partners such as Community Development Managers to address market challenges and develop local/regional business opportunities.

Promotes, encourages and supports LO's to participate in local activities.

Manages local relationships for the Community Lending Team.

Serves as liaison for sales and external partners.

Insure compliance with all Bank and regulatory compliance requirements and guidelines including Fair lending and Community Reinvestment Act objectives.

Must be willing to travel 50%.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • 10 or more years of experience in project management and leadership activities

  • Five or more years of managerial experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-10 years mortgage banking sales management experience with direct experience working with the private, public and nonprofit sectors.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the mortgage lending process including underwriting, product development, pricing and compliance related issues.

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to develop, implement and execute strategic business plan and proven ability to manage through influence and drive accountability.

  • Strong sales and sales presentation skills.

  • Ability to lead change an influence business direction in a fast-paced environment, establish priorities and achieve results.
