We have a thriving Transportation & Infrastructure practice with a close-knit, team oriented group that is growing rapidly. Due to our success, we need to continue to add resources to assist with the delivery of our current extensive backlog of work. This backlog includes tasks associated with various infrastructure improvement projects for NCDOT (across all 14 Divisions) as well as numerous municipal, institutional, and private sector clients.

This role offers unlimited opportunities to manage projects, mentor junior staff, interact directly with clients, while promoting the culture of a healthy work-life balance. This role offers the opportunity to function as a key resource in support of our other offices, and have a direct impact on the improvement of infrastructure nationally.

This position offers excellent potential for career advancement as this individual would assist other senior staff in guiding transportation agencies in North Carolina. The ideal candidate is an individual who desires to lead a team, displays confidence, and possesses a strong understanding of roadway design principles.

We currently have an opening in Charlotte NC for a Project Manager in our Civil / Transportation & Infrastructure division to work on various projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the project team to complete projects within the project budget and schedule

  • Coordinates, manages, and reports on the overall project budget, schedule, risks, and risk mitigation strategies

  • Coordinates between and among Client and other stakeholder departments

  • Assists clients with bid and contract planning

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors' degree in Civil Engineering

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in managing civil engineering projects or programs

  • PE license preferred

  • Proficiency with AASHTO standards

  • Roadway design background is a strong plus

  • Strong background working with NCDOT and local municipalities is desired

  • Ability to manage complex budgets and schedules

  • Knowledge of working in a government environment

Works closely with user groups to learn all aspects of user requirements in order to provide effective advice and recommendation. Ensure projects are completed on budget and schedule and that the projects incorporate the latest Behavioral Health/Acute best practices. Have the ability to manage multiple, large projects at one time with some supervision. Develop/engage project teams using a competitive RFP process. Assist in guiding project through local, State and Federal building restrictions and code compliance. Accurate budgeting, scheduling, logistics, ICRA, ILSM from conception through completion. Follow the CAR/PAC process for pre-validation, validation and request for full funding. Take a leadership role in finding new methods/approaches to help execute work faster and more efficiently. Challenge assumptions and bring new ideas to the table that could benefit the entire department in executing our role. Maintain a vendor ranking and ensure we reinforce success by re-engaging firms that perform excellent work and value the relationships in the system. Collecting historical cost and schedule data to utilize in predicting future cost and time to execute projects (send to corporate at projection completion). Ensure all parties on the project have executed a contract and have provided all the required insurances prior to commencing work. Ensure the highest ethical standards when dealing with our vendors. Ensure vendors compliant with the terms of the agreement and that the business terms agreed are fair to both the vendor. Use business term guidelines.
