The Role: Manages the development and implementation of projects by providing strategic direction to a team responsible for project development including design, analysis, feasibility studies, budget, and schedule. Day to Day:
Work with general supervision and direction to manage small to medium size/complexity projects or sub projects under larger projects or programs for a level 2. Work with minimal supervision and direction to manage complex projects and programs for a level 3. Establishes project goals.
Develops project plans, budgets, defines scope, timelines, outcomes, and deliverables. Coordinates involvement with key stakeholders. Establishes processes, approves and oversees the implementation of process improvements.
Conduct business analysis to support project requirements. Conducts analysis, financial modeling, feasibility studies, etc. in order to quantify costs and maintain budgets. Negotiates timelines and schedules and defines resource requirements.
Negotiates outcomes, revises project deliverables or adjusts schedules when necessary. Accountable for project schedules and deliverables that are consistent with the project plan. Assumes full accountability for project results for multiple projects or a single major project.
Demonstrates ability to manage multiple projects. Communicates project vision and provides guidance in executing project plan. Works with vendor project management to develop detailed project plans by leading project teams through work breakdown sessions.
Challenges assumptions and applies creativity to deliver attainable project schedules. Performs Risk Analysis for the project, regularly follows up on action plans and evaluates risks together with the project team. Challenges assumptions and applies creativity to deliver attainable project schedules. Resolves project issues and understand when to escalate unresolved project issues. Utilizes appropriate documentation and follow defined project change control policies.
Facilitates cross-functional and cross-organizational team members in a matrixed-managed environment. Identifies and mitigates cultural barriers that are critical to the success of a project by utilizing change management practices within project management. Mentors other project managers.
Contributes to the project management body of knowledge. Follows common project management methodologies as prescribed by the PMBOK. Supports Company's commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
Come on your first day with: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 5 years of proven project management experience for a level 2 role. Additional years of proven project management experience required for level 3 role. PMI certification or equivalent is preferred.
Strong understanding of business process and process improvement required. Experience leading business focused IT projects or business project with IT components required. Demonstrated experience applying project management concepts and techniques.
Proven success in facilitating and coordinating multiple projects, resources and personnel. Experience with project portfolio management strongly preferred. Proven ability to prioritize work to meet tight schedules and demanding targets while delivering high quality products; effectively managing competing priorities and reconciling divergent expectations.
Demonstrated ability to be self-managed and apply skills in problem solving and decision-making. Ability to function in a cohesive team environment to achieve company goals and act independently to accomplish personal responsibilities. Strong communication and presentation skills for both individual and group presentation basis, including facilitation skills and techniques.
Excellent writing and documentation skills. Must have skill and experience in negotiating agreements and handling sensitive situations with confidentiality, tact, and discretion while providing clear and concise direction. Ability to handle/defuse difficult conversations with tact and diplomacy.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure cooperation and timely project completion. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Must have strong systemic and critical thinking skills and ability to use logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.
Ability to gain trust quickly and to maintain confidentiality and credibility with clients and partners at all levels within the organization. Demonstrated problem solving and creative thinking skills. Ability to manage and track details while maintaining big picture concepts.
