Introduction

voestalpine Texas LLC constructs and operates voestalpine's direct reduction plant in San Patrico County/Texas. The natural gas based direct reduction plant, with its state-of-the-art technology, will provide the Austrian steel production sites in Linz and Donawitz with access to cost-effective and environmentally-friendly HBI, thus ensuring their competitiveness in the long term. Furthermore, a part of the production will be sold to partners interested in long-term contracts.

Job description

The Project Manager Professional will work closely with the Head of Capital Projects department on investment projects for the voestalpine Texas LLC plant. The person in this position will constantly drive to optimize overall costs, work safely, effectively and economically as possible while being consistent with plant policies, practices and procedures. This teammate will need the ability to lead teams, work as part of a project team or work independently on projects that will ensure the division reaches its goals.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all work in compliance with all EH&S standards and company procedures/policies

  • Ensure at all times safe installation and operation through appropriate design, protection systems and procedures.

  • Ensures optimal operating time of the plant equipment

  • Develop detailed, accurate reports to provide effective management tools for execution and feedback

  • Input and Export of Data in SAP System

  • Ensures that quality, budget, schedule, safety and environmental objectives are met.

  • Ensure updated status of "as built" plant documentation

  • Initiate and drive Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) with the aim of achieving optimized plant performance.

  • Coordinate with Production, Quality Management, 3rd Party Engineering, federal agencies and Contractors to resolve Technical issues

  • Tracking and achievement of objectives with regard to KPI (Key Performance Indicators)

  • Capable of working independently, lead a project team or work as a team member

  • Assists Safety Manager regarding safety and emergency measures and realization of safety and emergency plans.

  • Identify risks and create mitigation strategies/ plans

  • Perform engineering calculations and preparation of reports, feasibility studies, permit applications, inspections, construction plans and specifications.

  • Visit engineering and consultant offices as needed to develop and support project needs.

  • Prepare, coordinate and review work plans

  • Efficiently communicate and coordinate efforts and ideas.

  • Handle design activities for multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently

  • Supervise and coordinate construction work and project work by contractors

  • Hold meetings to discuss projects and technical issues (internal and contractors)

  • Management of distribution documents (manuals, drawings,) through efficient filling and archiving procedures.

  • Perform RCFA for failures in plant equipment

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management of voestalpine Texas LLC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering field required (preferable in mechanical, civil/structural or electrical) and a minimum of 6-10 years' experience in management of small to large scale projects

  • Must have Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

  • Knowledge of industrial plant production processes

  • Good knowledge of local codes and standards + API, ASME, etc

  • Motors, PLC, Drives Experience

  • Hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge Material Handling Conveyors, transfer towers, screens

  • Experience with construction observation, oversight and quality control

  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and PFD's, P&ID's etc

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)

  • Experience in Autocad (CAD)

  • Experience in SAP

  • Motivated Self Starter must be able to plan and sequence work activities

  • Able to understand and Interpret Schedule- Microsoft Project / Primavera etc

  • Must be able to walk long distances and stand and work for more than 2 hours in tough environmental conditions (high temperature, high humidity, noise, & dust), and withstand heights of up to 500 feet.

We are looking for a range of qualifications ranging from entry level graduate environmental professionals to experienced seasoned Environmental Managers in the industry. Position Summaries: Environmental Manager The Manager, Environmental Services manages and administrates corporate environmental compliance assurance programs and provides engineering services to divisions, projects, departments and other company entities. Supervises environmental work performed by other Technical Services Department and outside consultants; provides management direction on environmental compliance activities, budgets, staffing and non-compliance liability; maintains current expertise on environmental law and regulations; and provides support services to assure compliance is maintained. As part of the Technical Services Department engineering staff, also manages and provides other engineering, design and technical support to all company entities. Environmental Coordinator A Environmental Coordinator assists Project Management and various Crafts and Departments as necessary to maintain environmental compliance. Under the direction of the Project Manager at the construction site, the successful incumbent will assists with all project site environmental compliance activities as required by government regulations, permits obtained by the Project Owner and delegated by contract to ZII, permits obtained by ZII, its affiliates or partnering companies, and other environmental requirements as may be approved by either the Project Manager or the Corporate Environmental Stewardship Team. Position Duties and Responsibilities: Environmental Manager * Corporate Management - Environmental Compliance/Non-Compliance * Manage and coordinate Company environmental compliance work performed * Contract outside company consultants for assistance. * Prepare and manage Technical Services Department environmental budget and business plan items and advise management on programs and needs to maintain compliance. * Review and approve charges from environmental agencies for inspections, license renewals. * Provide assistance to the Legal Department, Risk Management Department and other support departments as needed on environmental issues. * Procure and maintain corporate environmental licenses and registrations. * Environmental Compliance Regulation Authority * Stay abreast of new and changing environmental regulations by reviewing federal and state registers, contacting agencies and reading various resource publications. * Notify various company entities of details of compliance requirements, update training manuals and maintain regulation information files. * Prepare lobbyists input from the construction industry viewpoint to government agencies on proposed regulations. * Project Support * Manage and provide support for project and facility environmental compliance activities including the following: * Prepare Storm Water Permit Plans, spill prevention plans, notifications, annual reports and other documents required by government agencies and regulations. * Near and Long Term Liability Impact Management at minimum cost. * Prepare environmental plans and documents required by customers and provide liaison directly with customer on special environmental issues. * Research and respond to questions on compliance. * Conduct telephone and site visit reviews to assure compliance is being managed. * Provide engineering services to support compliance needs. * Assist with procuring qualified environmental consulting and laboratory services. * Oversee and maintain corporate environmental records processes. * Develop standardized processes, forms, pollution plans and other documents to simplify and provide uniformity to environmental compliance processes.
