What You Will Do

As an Project Management Intern working for GSI, there is no typical day. The purpose of our internship program is to prepare you for a full-time career position with GSI.

Therefore, in addition to the hands-on construction experience, you will also work with our Field Engineers assisting them with engineering, testing, and project management duties. When GSI hires you, we believe we are hiring the next leader and everything we do is about setting you up to be personally and professionally successful.

Responsibilities

Assisting with Project Planning: Interns often help project managers in the initial planning stages of a project. This can involve creating project plans, schedules, and budgets.

Documentation: Interns may be responsible for maintaining project documentation, including project plans, status reports, meeting minutes, and other relevant documents.

Communication: Effective communication is crucial in project management.

Interns may assist in facilitating communication among team members, stakeholders, and clients. This can include sending out project updates, scheduling meetings, and following up on action items.

Risk Management: Interns may assist in identifying and tracking project risks and issues. They can also help in developing risk mitigation strategies.

Task Tracking: Keeping track of tasks and deadlines is essential in project management.

Interns may use project management software to monitor the progress of tasks and ensure that the project stays on schedule.

Meeting Support: Interns may attend project meetings and assist in preparing meeting agendas, taking notes, and distributing meeting minutes.

Quality Assurance: Ensuring the quality of project deliverables is important. Interns may help with quality control processes, such as reviewing work for accuracy and completeness.

Resource Management: Project managers often need to allocate and manage resources effectively. Interns may assist in resource allocation and tracking, such as managing team schedules and equipment.

Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining relationships with project stakeholders is essential. Interns may help in communicating with stakeholders and addressing their concerns.

Reporting: Interns may be responsible for generating regular project status reports, which can include progress updates, budget tracking, and any issues or risks that need attention.

Continuous Improvement: Interns may be encouraged to identify opportunities for process improvement within the project management framework and suggest ways to make processes more efficient.

Ad Hoc Tasks: Project management is dynamic, and interns may be asked to assist with various ad hoc tasks and challenges that arise during the course of a project.

Qualifications

What You Need to Bring

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering program OR a Construction Management program with an accredited university. We also invite active members of the military who are eligible for the SkillBridge Program.

  • Expected graduation of Winter 2025 or Summer 2026. For service members, they should be ending their active service within twelve months of summer 2025.

  • The internship is expected to last nine weeks.

  • You must have the flexibility to travel extensively for the duration of the internship.

Salary Range: $20.00 to $28.00 HR
