Directs and leads the Global ProgramManagement Office (PMO) to ensure all development programs meet theorganization's objectives. Develops and implements, in collaboration with otherfunctions processes and policies, leads project management staff and works withother department leaders to define, prioritize and develop projects andprograms. Hires, trains and develops staff to build an industry leading ProgramManagement Organization.

Responsibilities :

Build a world class PMO

Lead and grow a team of Program/Project Managers

Develop key performance indicators to measure the organization's progress.

Build and maintain a high performing team, able to collaborate on projectsacross various geographic sites.

Deliver development projects on time, on budget, on quality.

Plan realistic project timelines, resource allocations and budget

Ensure the budget is adhered to throughout fiscal year

Push back on unreasonable demands (e.g. timelines).

Be aware of details in ongoing projects

Manage the team to achieve metric driven objectives.

Ensure program managers manage towards their KPIs and do not just reportdeviations

Organize internal review meetings such as Design Reviews

Work with management to analyze program proposals and program objectives

Develop program plan, budget, schedule, and scope

Develop program management standards and methodologies to achieve programgoals.

Perform resource allocation and workload assignment for timely deliveries

Education, Certification, and Experience :
5+ years of experience in program management.
10+ years of leadership experience (Teams of 10+, not necessarily a team ofPMs)

Masters or Ph.D. in Life Sciences or Engineering

Experience within the Life Sciences/Biotech industry

Clear understanding of design control and stage gate development process

Other Requirements :

Alignment of business objective with VP of R&D

Ability to communicate project status to senior management in an objective andpositive manner.

Leadership: Leads the global PerkinElmer (PKI) Diagnostic Program Management Office (PMO), a growing team of 20+ individual Program Mangers located in Turku (Finland), Taicang (China) and various sites in North America. Key is to develop talent able to successfully run projects from small to a very complex scale (e.g. IVD Systems). Culture: The Global PMO Director establishes a "Culture of Accountability", with a focus on team development, willingness to support others, empowerment, sense of urgency, execution and attention to detail and team work. Constant learning and willingness to acceptance and give constructive feedback is key to develop such a culture and to permanently improve the organization. Process: The PMO office, in collaboration with other functions, is also responsible for updating and maintaining the Design Control Process, (Development Process, NPI process) including optimizing efficiency while ensuring regulatory compliance. Strategy: The PMO organizes regular Business Investment Committee (BIC) meetings to allow Senior Management to decide on investments in ongoing or future projects. Program Managers (reporting to the PMO Director) present at these meetings and the PMO Director ensures these presentations allow Senior Management objective decision making. Communication: The PMO informs the VP of R&D and the Diagnostics Leadership Team on a regular basis about the status of all projects.
