Position Summary

Internship positions at Jacobs provide college students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in their specific area of study. Interns will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which provides interns invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment.

  • Perform routine aspects of engineering requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles under close supervision.

  • May use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

  • Collects and prepares data for evaluation.

  • Assisting in the coordination of projects from conception (feasibility) through final plan preparations.

  • Providing support to engineering staff members as needed.

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in at least their junior year within an Engineering or Construction Management curriculum is required.

  • At least a 3.0 GPA is required

  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel is required

  • Previous design intern experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation is preferred

  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management.

  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

You will work with the Facility Operations & Services departments of Project Management and Construction Management as well as Procurement Contract Administrator partners in the Facility Project financial process to support department and company tracking and reporting goals of over 200 annual projects with total budget of up to $50M in Capital and Overhead. Responsibilities will include: * Execution of Major Project Reviews in the planning and preparation of charts for a multitude of projects * Organizing and tracking of project schedules, budgets, status information for the full project portfolio * Insurance of proper financial documentation is maintained, processed and closed according to current processes * Analyzing and processing of construction invoices with advisement for billing irregularities * Works closely with Shared Services in Lakeland, Project Managers and Contract Administrators to assure accuracy * Authorizes and monitors P-card (Small Purchase) <$25,000 transactions="" on="" Blanket="" Purchase="" Agreements=""></$25,000> * Function as a liason between customer and LM Procurement, process rapid procurement requests; maintain order logs; as necessary, contact suppliers to request status of orders and invoicing; and follow-up with Procurement to confirm payment and to close out issues * Provide purchase order open commitment reports and status management * Prepare monthly reports to capture FO&S closed Overhead and Capital projects for Senior Management * Support PMs and CMs to initiate project closeout; used FaMIS and FileMaker Pro to update project status in the FMR log, Project log, and other project databases * Participate in meetings with PMs and PEs to forecast completion dates associated with major milestones Typically has 2 - 5 years of professional experience.
