Position Summary

The Project Management Associate (PMA) will work closely with project managers and drug development operations functional areas to support Aptinyx drug development operations objectives. The PMA will assist and support drug development operations activities while using project management skills to ensure successful completion of project objectives. The PMA will develop and maintain key functional area databases, project trackers and tools to assist with ongoing Aptinyx project teams.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides support to drug development functional area (s) and/ or project teams; including management of meeting logistics, gathering and trending of metrics and monitoring key performance indicators.

  • Provides support for program management teams, sub-teams, and other groups as assigned

  • Develops project management skill set to assist with the development and maintenance of project plans, project documents and management tools under the guidance of project manager(s)

  • Develops relationships with functional area personnel and program team members to foster effective, accurate and timely communication

  • Prepares, edits, and updates project documentation (i.e. required deliverables, reports, agendas, minutes, tracking sheets, etc.).

  • Supports the development, implementation and management of administrative tools and processes, including databases (e.g. SharePoint)

  • Supports functional areas in the support of tracking and trending of key data (e.g. batch information, stability studies, nonclinical studies, regulatory submissions, regulatory communication).

  • Provides support to functional areas to help coordinate on shipments/logistics of products and materials to CMO/CROs.

  • Location: Evanston, IL


  • Bachelors Degree in life sciences, physical sciences, or project management disciplines


  • Minimum of 1-2 years or more of project management experience within the pharmaceutical or relevant industry

  • Demonstrated understanding of the development process and project management processes

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, in a fast paced and dynamic environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project and Adobe Acrobat

  • Ability to handle multiple project and deliverables at once

  • Can act with tact and diplomacy in a team setting


  • Bachelor's Degree in life sciences, physical sciences, or project management disciplines

  • Experience within a dynamic team-based setting
