Candidate will provide systems engineering support, supporting technical risk management inputs/mitigations, supporting project technical reviews/working groups, technical data integration, team coordination and general technical support and developing/maintaining systems level requirement documents for the sub-element. Assist efforts to close technical issues and will be responsible for developing and reviewing Space Launch System (SLS) documentation such as drawings, design specifications, interface control documents, and verification specifications.


  • Task planning.

  • Technical inputs and reviews.

  • Coordination of ES support.

  • Communication with Chief Engineers, Element Discipline Lead Engineer (EDLEs), and SPIE Element Lead Systems Engineer (ELSE) as needed.

  • Coordinate with Secondary/Payload Integration Manager (SPIMs) on required inputs & outputs.

  • Develop/manage schedule of secondary payloads tasks and deliverables.

  • Support technical inputs and reviews and product development.

  • Maintain and/or provide inputs to Secondary Payloads System Engineering products (IDRD, SPRD),

  • Assist SPIMs in producing requirements compliance input for payload specific ICDs,

  • Support verification planning for payloads and SPDS systems, including V&V for Secondary Payloads.


  • A degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited institution is required.

  • At least 5 years of experience is required.


  • General knowledge of NASA Systems Engineering principles and processes.

  • Ability to lead an integrated team in technical reviews and working groups.

  • Familiar with configuration\data management concepts and tools such as Windchill.

  • Familiar with risk management concepts and tools.

  • Communicates efficiently, and effectively in English, both orally, and written.

  • Demonstrated experience of working in a cross functional dynamic ever changing work environment and have a strong ability to multi task desired.

  • Previous work supporting SLS components or Payloads Integration on other programs including flight or ground operations and/or testing desired.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

This is an exciting opportunity to grow in your modeling and simulation career while supporting important national security work. Work in an exciting team environment using the latest in simulation tools and techniques. Primary Responsibilities External Simulation Integration * Coordinate with simulation developers across government agencies and contractor sites to define requirements and approaches to enable integration of external simulations with the Integrated Threat Analysis Simulation Environment (ITASE). External simulations may require integration using standards such as HLA, DIS, TENA, or by direct integration with the ITASE Application Programming Interface (API). * Develop and implement software to perform the required integration and other related functions. * Test and document the results of the external simulation integration. * Document interface requirements in an Interface Control Documents (ICD) and design approaches in a Software Design Document (SDD). * Support simulation exercises using ITASE assets and/or external simulations ITASE Installation Support * Support installation and testing of ITASE at MSIC and other sites * Identify and implement installation improvements Basic Qualifications * Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field with at least 5 years of experience. * Experience developing software on Windows and/or Linux platforms. Candidate must be proficient in C++. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment at a Government site. * Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess a Final Secret Clearance (minimum). * Candidate must be eligible for (or possess) and be able to maintain a TS\\SCI Clearance. * Ability to support occasional travel. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with distributed simulations using DIS, HLA, or TENA is highly desired.
