We are seeking a Project Industrial Hygienist in our Albany, NY office.

This position requires the willingness to work in a variety of work settings for diverse clientele. The candidate will work with other professionals to generate proposals, manage, and execute a variety of IH and environmental projects for A/E, public school, commercial, industrial, and municipal clientele. This position requires frequent field work and some carrying, lifting, and transfer of equipment/material. Some travel during the standard work week is expected. Irregular hours (second shift) are routine to accommodate access to work locations. B&L reimburses mileage or you may drive a company vehicle.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Asbestos and lead based paint investigation, assessment, remedial design, construction administration, and project monitoring
  • Evaluation of building systems/finishes to coordinate remedial design
  • Environmental compliance evaluations and audits;
  • IH sampling and assessments
  • due diligence - phase I environmental site assessments;
  • IAQ investigations/assessments
  • Perform data analysis and reporting based on review of technical data
  • Conduct environmental site evaluations and assist in preparation of follow-up reports
  • Project management
  • Client communications and client development
  • Business Development
  • A.S. or a B.S. in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or other related field, or a combination of applicable coursework and experience.
  • NYS asbestos certifications (DES/PM/INS) are required. EPA lead inspector certification, OSHA HAZWOPER, and Mold Assessor are a plus.
  • Candidates must have solid computer and writing skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to interface with a variety of clients.
  • Minimum of 5-10+ years of experience.

Job Summary: The person hired for the position of Design Solutions Specialist will be responsible for engaging design influencers, engineers and specification writers to drive Industrial Adhesives and Tapes division (IATD) projects from exploration to specification. They will work closely with the key decision makers to identify requirements, develop projects, fill the opportunity pipeline, achieve design specifications, and close sales globally. This role will drive IATD's solutions at US based design centers and coordinate to support global production through 3M's distribution and converting channels. The Design Solutions Specialist will act as project leader on these sales opportunities and are responsible for coordinating Application Engineers, Technical Service and Marketing resources to support these opportunities when needed. The person hired will be trained to advanced levels on the following products/technologies: Double Coated and Adhesive Transfer Tapes, VHB™ Tapes, Structural Adhesives, Specialty Single Coated Tapes and other related technologies. This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government, or military environments to a 3M career. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Specify 3M products on engineering drawings & provide support required to transition business to manufacturing locations throughout zones, regions, and subsidiaries * Engage Industrial designers, design influencers and engineers to develop a hopper of projects to move from exploration to production * Ability to build strong collaborative relationship with your customers * Supports 3M new product development process with 3M IATD lab to meet OEM application requirements * Work through complex tier and manufacturing supply chain * Ability to manage complex situations & prioritize sales opportunity * Manages project process through Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Database Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university is required * Minimum of five (5) years of combined Application Engineering, Technical Sales, and/or Marketing experience in a private, public, government, or military environment * Current, valid Drivers license is required, as you will be issued a company vehicle for this position Preferred Qualifications: * Proven track record in technical sales or application engineering * Prior experience with Pressure Sensitive Adhesives and Structural Adhesive technology * Strong communications and organizational skills * Experience working in a specification-based industry * Experience with OEM, tier, contract manufacturers * Technical aptitude towards application development and replication * Ability to work as a team member in a matrix organization Location: NY, PA, VA, MD, DE Travel: May include up to 40% domestic travel; Mostly within the assigned territory Relocation: Is authorized within country per 3M policies Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
