The Manager-Project Implementation will direct and control the activities of large/small and/or technically complex network installations and upgrades for broadband cable service markets. Primary focus is on Inside Plant (ISP) projects driven by technology upgrades, product enhancements, quality assurance, and customer growth. This includes oversight of; pre-project planning, engineering, budget/cost allocation functions, physical build out, equipment configuration, and customer turn-up.

Projects will cross organizational boundaries and will be viewed as a critical component of our organization's business strategy. The MPI's objective will be to foster a partnering relationship with our sponsors, stakeholders, managers, employees and contractors that consist of:

This position can be located anywhere in the US. Ideal candidate will reside near a major airport


  • Project Manager for all assigned ISP projects including:

  • Identification of strategic project priorities

  • Development of action plans and support for the execution of these plans

  • Communication of changes to the project

  • Identification of ways to eliminate causes of unsatisfactory performance

  • Define and satisfy the information and communications needs of management

  • Identification, analysis and response to project risk

  • Ensure the timely completion of the project.

  • Identifying the specific activities that must be performed to produce the various project elements.

  • Identifying and documenting inter-activity dependencies.

  • Analyzing activity sequences, activity duration's, and resource requirements to create the project schedule.

  • Controlling changes to the project schedule.

  • Manage procurement and contract processes for capital projects per TDS practice. Manage and obtain internal and external resources for equipment installations as required. Will complete performance reports on contractors and assist Contract Administration in maintaining a list of qualified contractors.

  • Ensure that the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken

  • Identifying which quality standards are relevant to the project and determining how to satisfy them.

  • Evaluating overall project performance on a regular basis to provide confidence that the project will satisfy the relevant quality standards.

  • Monitoring specific project results to determine if they comply with relevant quality standards and identifying ways to eliminate causes of unsatisfactory performance

  • Provide technical support to other departments; including field services, marketing, customer service and others.

  • Provide technical advice in the assessment, review, selection, and deployment of new technologies, products, and services, including equipment installation and activation in the headend/hubs


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) or 4 years of professional work experience

  • 5+ years' of Broadband Cable/Telecom ISP project management experience

  • 5 + years experience with Headend/Hubs, IP, and Optical Network Platforms

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, insurance, and have access to reliable transportation

  • Must be willing to do overnight travel 30%

Other Qualifications

  • Demonstrated project management experience with network upgrades and activation of advanced services.

  • Ability to work with ISP teams and partner with other internal groups to meet project plans.

  • Project management experience of multiple simultaneous projects.

  • Broadband cable engineering: Inside plant, Outside plant and Data Network.

  • Hands on experience with network installation, implementation and integration a plus.

  • Strong organizational, coordination, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to build teamwork, lead teams, and the willingness to be accountable for results.

  • Knowledge and experience with process management and improvement techniques.

  • Excellent planning skills and the ability to make decisions that balance the needs of the organization with the needs of an individual group required.

  • 3 years of supervisory experience.

  • Knowledgeable of PC hardware and software as applied to engineering and analyses (including but not limited to project management applications, word processing, databases, spreadsheets, on-line service, and electronic mail.
