Tesla is looking for a highly motivated individual to be a Project Execution Lead for our new battery recycling projects in Reno NV. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla.

You, as a Project Execution Lead, will interface with organizations across Tesla, Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Production Planning, Construction, Operations, and the Executive team. You will drive the development and deployment of new battery recycling equipment and processes, the planning and execution of new battery materials manufacturing expansion, and build productive relationships with external suppliers and relevant agencies.

You will lead projects from concept through install, integration, ramp-up, and handover to production.

  • Work with Engineers, Facility Design, Quality, Operations, and other supporting functions in order to scope and drive designs for deployment of materials production equipment.

  • Work with Engineers, Facility Design, Quality, Construction, Operations, and other supporting functions in order to develop and implement project execution plans, contracting strategies, and construction and commissioning execution plans.

  • Develop scope and define parameters for project design and implementation.

  • Define and drive tasks to be performed by the cross-functional team.

  • Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks.

  • Drive review and selection of external equipment vendors and integrators for delivery of selected facilities processing project scope.

  • Coordinate internal and external engineering findings to de-risk plant design and optimize plant operations and availability

  • 10+ years in an engineering project management environment, in a mix of engineering and execution roles. Working on the development of chemical processing, or mechanical handling systems is a plus

  • Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage this understanding to solve challenging technical problems

  • Ability to work and communicate cross-functionally, including interfacing with suppliers and third party firms

  • Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, occasionally requiring extended hours

  • Aptitude to learn and incorporate new technologies

  • Ability to identify issues and develop corrective measures to resolve

  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
