General Description

Supports program, operations and Project Managers by analyzing project requirements and preparing cost estimates and detailed schedules

Duties

  • Lead the efforts to price new work.

  • Serve as a resource to the project team throughout the project with regard to scopes of work for vendors and subcontractors, and to clarify bid assumptions, methods, schedule, etc., as required.

  • Review project bid documents and coordinate with operations and estimate team to ensure work plan and scope are thought through and complete.

  • Identify risk issues, their order of magnitude and proposed solutions to minimize risks.

  • Solicit subcontractor and supplier bids, relevant information and work plans.

  • Complete and review general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics, means and methods, constructability, and other information to ensure competitiveness and limit risks.

  • Dissect project documents to identify labor and materials quantities, means, methods, equipment, restrictions, time, and any other requirements for each definable feature of work.

  • Resolve discrepancies with the assistance of other company resources, and/or ask questions of the client via the proposal lead.

  • Assemble and present the prepared estimate, including all backup information, rates, costs, units, quotes, etc.

  • Supervises Material Pricing Specialist II and Material Pricing Specialist I.

  • Other Duties as Assigned

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred but experience may be substituted for education.

  • Minimum of five years of estimating experience.

  • Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically and creatively, draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize, work well under stress, meet deadlines.

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change.

  • Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet deadlines.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to assist and communicate with staff and clients.

  • Ability to perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Possess strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to build correct Bill of Materials (BOM) from drawings in both electrical and mechanical areas.

  • Normally works in an office setting with controlled temperature.

You'll perform preventative maintenance and minor component repairs on the newest and best-maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. This position will be located at our Madison, AL location and must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Major Responsibilities: * Primary duties of this role consist of ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers. * Consistently using the tools and technologies provided at Penske to properly log, research, and complete repairs. This includes performing basic vehicle diagnostics. * Conducting Preventative Maintenance repairs to perform minor repairs such as, install mounted tires, replace or rotate tires and complete vehicle component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles. * Continuously developing your skills in partnership with your manager utilizing Penske's available technician training and hands on mentoring. * Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor Qualifications: * Basic mechanical aptitude preferred, demonstrated past problem solving, tool usage, and repair experience required * 1-2 years of automotive or diesel experience or education preferred * High school diploma or equivalent required, vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred * A valid driver's license is required, and, must either possess a CDL or have the ability to obtain a CDL license required * A positive, customer service attitude and effective communication skills * Basic computer skills required for data entry into maintenance systems. * Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job. * Willingness to work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background screening to include criminal checks, past employment and education), the ability to pass a drug screen and physical as required by the Department of Transportation, and potential travel within a near geography for training are required.
