Position Description

The Project Engineering Quality Assurance (PEQA) is responsible to ensure that the overall project quality is achieved according to the defined project quality targets. The PEQA confirms internal / external process compliance within the project and ensures best practices are followed. He / she acts as a coach for problem solving methodologies within the project and drives for robust countermeasures based on fundamental root cause. He / She is the first gatekeeper for organizational quality assurance and has the authority to stop technical deliveries / releases and require escalation. These roles are required to provide support to the growing number of projects in N. America in DAS, Integrated, PSE and Braking electronics to help the organization achieve ASPICE Compliance.

Position Requirements

  • Translates relevant quality requirements (customer, government, etc) into the project and defines quality goals for the project in collaboration with Principal Project Team.

  • Reviews, analyzes (as applicable) and approves requirements analysis for quality related requirements.

  • Reviews and approves test plan for quality relates test items as input for VPL.

  • Develops, releases and ensures execution according of Project Quality Assurance Plan.

  • Leads creation of Project Quality Assurance Plan to achieve quality targets.

  • Reviews and updates as needed per project scope and timing.

  • Defines regular quality checks within the project based on customer requirements, project complexity, product maturity, project type, etc. according to defined framework.

  • Ensures execution of quality checks within the project (ie Work Package Reviews, Design Reviews, Process Compliance Checks, etc).

  • Conducts detailed reviews as needed.

  • Drives project team to solve issues and holds team accountable for commitments.

  • Escalates as needed to guarantee project quality is ensured.

  • Leads problem resolution approaches in the project.

  • Drives proper usage of problem-solving methodologies in the project.

  • Ensures resulting quality of output.

  • Coaches team to ensure fundamental root cause definition and sustainable countermeasure implementation.

  • Gatekeeper to ensure organizational quality in the project.

  • Oversees overall quality assurance in the project together with the Principal Project Team.

  • Monitors daily working modes and outputs of the team and recommends / drives improvements with the EPM.

  • Ensures internal gate requirements are achieved and stops deliveries if safety is not assured.

  • Escalates immediately as needed.

  • Acts as the first gatekeeper for organizational quality assurance and has the authority to stop technical deliveries / releases and require escalation.

  • Leads project level preparation for internal / external ASPICE audits.

  • Responsible to ensure project readiness.

  • Serves as the primary customer contact for quality related matters in the project as it relates to documentation, tools, processes, etc.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • At least 7 years of applied experience in Quality Management (TS16949/QS9000 or ISO, ASPICE)

  • A thorough understanding of the ASPICE V2.5 and V3.0 and related Quality Standards Knowledge of APQP Process, process improvements, in-process audits, 8D methodology.

  • Experience in working with multiple customers globally on process improvement initiatives.

  • Experience in Automotive processes especially in areas of Systems Engineering domain.

  • Clear, concise and open written and verbal communication containing appropriate detail with all stakeholders is necessary for success.

  • Analysis of data and the ability to plan for positive and negative trends is required.

  • Providing leadership to teams engaged in problem solving or innovative participation in the group is critical for success.

  • Degree in Engineering

Tetra Tech - Cornerstone has an immediate opening for a Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) Technical to support our projects in the Midwest as well as throughout the United States by performing testing and observation activities at solid waste landfills and other facilities. The work will involve observation and testing of soil (geotechnical) and geosynthetic (liner) components of landfill systems as well the installation of landfill gas and leachate collection systems. Other field work to support environmental investigations, monitoring events and construction efforts may be part of this individuals job assignments. This position will be based in Farmington Hills, Michigan but other locations in the area are acceptable for the right candidate. This position is predominately for field work in the Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin regions. Overnight travel will be required. This position is geared towards individuals who like to work outside and like to have a high degree autonomy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Oversee construction work performed by construction contractors at solid waste landfills and other similar environmental sites * Perform observation and testing of solid waste landfill construction projects including liner systems, leachate collection and management systems, landfill gas collection and control systems, and final cover systems * Record observations from oversight work in daily field reports and similar documents * Prepare written and verbal reports of work observed at the schedule dictated by the project * Participate in formal and informal daily, weekly and other routine meetings with construction contractors, site personnel, regulators, and other Tetra Tech staff * Prepare written documentation of meetings attended * Operate field sampling equipment including nuclear density gauge * Perform field monitoring of groundwater, leachate, stormwater, landfill gas and other environmental control structures * Collect field samples and data * Assist with construction and maintenance of piping systems * Operate field monitoring equipment, powered hand tools and light construction equipment * Analyze data, make recommendations on findings, prepare reports * Making recommendations based on field observations and data tabulated * Adhere to company and project specific health and safety requirements Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent is a minimum but preferred candidate will have an associate or bachelor degree in environmental science, geology, engineering or related field * Basic computer knowledge with ability to learn multiple software applications * Good verbal and written communications * Experience with 4x4 vehicle, valid driver's license and good driving record * Willing to occasionally travel on projects for extended periods * Ability to work independently or in small crews * Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with supervisors and site management * Ability to walk for extended periods of time and work in varying weather conditions * Ability to obtain / maintain HAZWOPER, other required certifications * Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications as well as other technical documents * Knowledge of soil and geosynthetic testing equipment and procedures a plus * Knowledge of electronics and pumps a plus * Ideal candidate will have 1 to 3 years of previous experience as CQA Technician or similar testing role such as a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician * Experience with surveying using GPS equipment or similar devices would be ideal but not required For more information on our company, please visit our website at To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter on the Careers portion of our website at We thank all applicants for their interest; however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
