What Will You Do?

Reporting to the Research and Advanced Development Manager, the Principle/Project Engineer will be the leader of the design for assigned projects. They will be a core team member and work as a liaison between the core team and engineering design team to develop a unified solution. They will help to translate the voice of the customer from Marketing/Product Management into quantifiable design requirements to ensure project and product success. They will also develop documentation (i.e. PRD's, DFMEA's, DVP&R's, etc.), non-standard tests and other forms of effective communication to highlight risks and overall status of projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a champion in all areas of Zero Zone's strategic vision, purpose and priorities with particular focus on Commitment to Organizational Excellence and Product Platforms.

  • Own the Theory of Operation of design and direct design engineering efforts to fulfill project requirements which fulfill the Voice of Customer (VOC). This will include associated documentation.

  • Work as a core team member of projects and act as liaison between the core team and engineering.

  • Conduct design reviews with an emphasis on DFx to ensure the best product possible.

  • Utilize best practice tools to engage in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities for both the product and the business.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What Are We Looking For?

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of you in this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Refrigeration Engineering or 10+ years of experience in project engineering role.

  • Experience in CAD, CFD and FEA packages.

  • Experience with ASHRAE, Intertek or other Agency is preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a keen ability to continually identify continuous improvement opportunities throughout the organization.

  • Ability to write comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and test procedures as needed.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

  • Proficiency in any of the following computer packages; MS Word, MS Excel, CAD Packages (SolidWorks, Pro-E, or AutoCAD)

  • Working knowledge of any of the following disciplines; refrigeration, thermodynamics, economic/cost analysis, sheet metal, plastics, and fabrication, preferred.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Understanding of GD&T and statistical capability analysis.

  • Experience in translating customer requirements to technical requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned.
