SUMMARY
As a Field Engineer you will provide guidance and leadership in the field for our construction projects. You will be working within a team to build, estimate, and schedule mechanical, electrical and heavy industrial construction projects. On the job and classroom training will be provided to insure the employee's success in this position
.ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Support both administrative and construction activities as assigned by the supervisor
Prepare and track RFI's, Submittals, and Change Orders
Prepare and update project schedules
Attend and participate in site progress meetings with the Superintendent
Review proposals, specifications, and drawings
Perform material takeoffs, prepare estimates and attend pre-bid meetings
Work with subcontractors and communicate with vendors
Prepare work plans as directed by the Superintendent
Assuring quality control
Manage and track costs
Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, or diagrams
Conduct business and interactions with a positive attitude that projects a high level of professionalism.
Learn and stay familiar with Jacobs document control and change order log programs
Learn and stay familiar with ASME 31.1 and 31.3 Pipe codes.
Learn and stay familiar with the QC Manual and company NDE procedures.
Skilled at reading, understanding, and explaining isometric drawings, model reviews.
Check sketches, drawings, and work orders.
Distribute and manage controlled copies of fabrication drawings and sketches.
Identify what weld procedures are required. These WPSs are to be in a table on the fabrication drawing.
Communicate and provide work orders to the shop or site crews.
Produce as-built drawings after a job is complete.
Be familiar with the project schedule and provide updates to the project team as needed.
Become familiar with carbon steel, stainless steel and other alloy material requirements of the ASME code for the following applications: piping, flanges, fittings, plate, shapes, fasteners and gaskets.
Complete a bill of material take off from isometric drawings and/or orthographic drawings to support estimating and procurement.
Requisition BOM materials for assigned tasks.
Observe projects during and provide insight & helpful information to all personnel as required.
Learn Roberts' take-off program and perform take-offs on pipe, vessels, HXs, duct and other shop projects.
Learn Roberts' procedures and stay proficient in managing assigned task.
Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Perform project document audits on a weekly and/or monthly basis.
Familiar with document control and change order log programs
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or 3-5 years of experience in the field in a related area.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands and the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee will be required to work in an office or field project environment. The ability to safely navigate construction sites including walking on un-even surfaces, climbing stairs or accessing work areas at heights will be required.
