Tetra Tech has been ranked number 1 in solid waste consulting services consecutively for 5 years. Tetra Tech is looking for a project engineer who will work under a senior project manager to maintain positive working relationships with existing clients, perform a variety of field and office work and help secure new work to grow the solid waste professional services in the Houston/Texas region for Tetra Tech. The Project Engineer should be a Texas P.E. with consulting experience executing or a deep familiarity with the following areas:

  • Groundwater monitoring

  • Permit Modification applications eg. Site Operating Plan mods such as hours of operation, expanding allowable wastes, alternative daily cover, liquid solidification

  • Gas Collection & Control System(GCCS) master plans, expansion design and bid package, construction, CQA

  • GCCS feasibility through CQA for LFG to energy systems

  • GCCS monthly monitoring, tuning, data management, and reporting

  • Cell & Final Cover design and construction bid package development

  • Cell & Final Cover CQA

  • 5-year phasing plans, optimization of equipment based on daily volume

  • Special Waste profile reviews and approvals

  • Notice of Intent (NOI) for General Industrial and Construction Storm-water Discharge Permit Coverage

  • Storm-water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) write or update, quarterly inspections, quarterly visual monitoring, annual effluent sampling, DMRs, annual comprehensive compliance evaluation and worker training

  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans write or update, monthly inspections, annual training, secondary containment design

  • Transfer Stations Design & permitting, SOP modifications, feasibility, inspections, monitoring

  • Annual solid waste report

  • Notices of registration and maintain NOR in STEERS

  • Training Annual RCRA (SQG & LQG) and DOT Hazmat

  • Familiarity with Landfill Title V permits

  • Tier II Chemical Inventory

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Master's degree a plus.

VIEW JOBS 11/9/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-07T00:00 Basic Functions Functions as Graduate Engineer in providing engineering support for project management and design development of transit projects related to the light rail lines, park & rides, bus shelters and facility upgrades. Will assist Program Managers in the development of design documents, technical reports, cost estimates and schedules. Interacts with the City of Houston, Harris County and the governmental entities and agencies within METRO's region as well as other METRO Departments. Responsibilities include engineering design and assisting with coordination and monitoring of projects. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. Responsibilities and Specific Duties * Conducts engineering investigations and evaluations. * Provides technical assistance and basic engineering design during the development of conceptual designs. * Performs basic engineering design and prepares drawings and other documents for minor detail design. * Assists in the coordination of detail design work.Provides minor technical direction to in-house staff, consultants, and sub consultants. * Participates in the coordination between departments/division (Construction, Contracts, etc.) through all project phases. * Prepares technical documentation and final reports covering various aspects of projects. * Assists in the development of scope of work, schedules and budgets for various engineering and construction projects. * Assists with the outside agency coordination and communication on all project activities. * Assists in contract negotiations. * Assists with interdepartmental review of milestones submitted. * Monitors budget costs and schedules. * Participates in interdepartmental and outside agency meetings. * Participates in the identification, initiation and representation of transit facility and rail, roadway and HOV/HOT improvement projects. Assists in the preparation of proposals regarding these projects. * May be required to make presentations at interdepartmental and community meetings. * Promotes safety awareness and other employee safety procedures in efforts to reduce or eliminate accidents * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree Minimum 0-2 years of related experience in the design and development of construction projects preferred. Engineer-In-Training (EIT) License or ability to attain within Six (6) months of hire. Knowledgeable of computer aided drafting and design systems. Experience with MicroStation software, Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Must have a willingness to work on a variety of projects with a strong desire to learn, be motivated and enthusiastic about all aspects of the role, and enjoy the challenge of taking on new responsibilities.
