Job Description

The Engineer assists Project Manager and Craft Superintendents in planning and execution of project plans at site. Engineer is responsible for coordination of all technical activities on assigned project. Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and company standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned project between all disciplines and all other project participants.

Not responsible to ensure the technical accuracy of specific design details in areas where not qualified. Expected however to have sufficient technical knowledge, and awareness of details, to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing in the various disciplines, and to initiate appropriate corrective action.

While on a project, the Engineer reports to the Project Manager, who has ultimate responsibility for both; the quality of company's deliverable and effective execution of project assignments. On projects where no Engineer is assigned, Project Manager is responsible for these duties.

The Project Manager may delegate certain project management responsibilities to the Engineer, including day-to-day interaction with the client's designated representative as well as coordination of all internal activities performed by company's staff. However, the designated Project Manager retains overall accountability for relationship management and client satisfaction on the project.

Responsibilities

  • Project engineering schedules and forecasts.

  • Coordination and checking of engineering deliverables.

  • Monthly project status reports and change orders.

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical and management aspects of projects.

  • Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects.

  • Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project clients.

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals.

  • Budget monitoring and trend tracking.

  • Participating in client/contractor meetings and resolving client/engineering and management project issues.

  • Review and approve project client invoices.

  • Ensure effective engineering and client communications.

  • Development and monitor of all Project RFI's and related documents.

  • Assist with the daily and weekly project reporting.

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering required.

  • Minimum five (5) years of related industry experience.

  • Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. Steel toed boots required on the job.
