We are part of the solution – you should come join us.We believe deeply in energy services—conserving resources and optimizing building operations.Job Title: Project EngineerThis is a full-time salaried position located in our Olathe, Kansas corporate location offering competitive wages, benefits, and bonus potential.Job Objective: You will be responsible for developing energy efficiency and capital improvement projects, by identifying, assessing, and structuring technical and financial solutions to meet customer objectives. You will be expected to conduct site investigations, perform energy savings calculations, develop cost estimates, write descriptions of energy conservation measures in support of design build energy performance contract proposals and technical audits. Regular travel to project locations in Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska will be customary as well as some overnight travel away from home.Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the business development team in project development.
Utility Analysis, Normalization, and reverse development understanding (learn internal tools).
Monitor and Conduct site trips to collect facility and utility data.
Direct the efforts of assigned team members.
Define and execute work efforts to meet Client schedule.
Direct use of MS Project to monitor and control project development to defined calendar dates.
Support proposal development by providing most of the proposal input, including detailed technical project descriptions, responsibility definitions, financial descriptions, integrating existing conditions photos and drawings and include detailed supporting documentation of contractor quotes, calculation results, and cost and savings derivations.
Act as project lead developer to control expenditures within the limitations of the project budgets and drive the completion of development activities within project deadlines.
Use (and develop independently when necessary) energy screening models to determine the technical and economic viability of energy efficiency and capital improvement projects.
Work with existing team members to execute analysis and generate applications for utility rebates associated with energy efficiency projects.
Develop technical scope of work for selected technologies.
Participate in internal and customer meetings and presentations.
Perform technical consulting assignments as required to support specific client requests.
Assist the project management (PM) team with bidding and implementation of projects.
Provide technical submittal review and field installation of equipment and devices inspections.
Identify potential issues and solve problems associated with new installations.
Treat clients and project partners better than they expect.
Offer help to co-workers before they ask.
Act as steward of the our client’s culture.Education: Undergraduate mechanical or architectural engineering degree required - PE preferred.Skills and Experience:
4-8 years working experience in addition to degree.
Direct design experience of HVAC systems and component parts – including control interface.
Working knowledge of building systems such as lighting, water, envelope and solar.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and graphs.
High Level of Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office software.
Understanding of energy units/use.
Proficiency in Microsoft Project (or the ability to learn).
Ability to effectively manage efforts of assigned team members.
Strong ability to build rapport with others.
Team oriented work skills.
Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and computer skills.
Strong Attention to detail.
Customer service driven.
Self-starter with ability to manage time effectively.Ideal Experience/Knowledge:
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software.
Direct experience with Commissioning, Retro-commissioning.
Direct experience defining and executing Measurement and Verification (M&V).
