Position name Project Engineer Business Unit / VP USA/CAN Position to which it reports Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Taylor Objective The Project Engineer is responsible to drive tooling, cycle time and other efficiencies into machining cells. Supports manufacturing on day to day issues, as well as new cell launches. Initial main focus is to support T1XX Magna lines to achieve the desired uptime and support improvements to the lines to improve efficiency. Main responsibilities Manages major capital equipment and tooling projects, relative to machining, part washing, assembly, leak detection, gauging, automation and packaging to company standards that meet program timing plans.

  • Develop and expand on CNC Tooling and fixturing initiatives that are currently in place and apply best practices to upcoming programs to Nemak.

  • Supports management of CNC programming and tooling inventory, and applies robust machining and tooling practices.

  • Leads company technical development for new technologies related to machining, automation and assembly.

  • Performs capability analysis and review on all new capital equipment

  • Supports Estimating department to define technical requirements to obtain an accurate tool quote and to assess feasibility.

  • Leads new program requirements and communication for machining and secondary operations requirements Including customer purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing to assure a robust process.

  • Provides plant productivity support for automation and plant engineering and apply lean activities. Profile requirements Education Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Languages English Experience Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Machining experience preferred Technical skills AutoCAD experience preferred

  • Robot Studio experience preferred

  • NX experience preferred Soft skills Strong written and verbal communication

Responsibilities: * Lead or assist cross-functional teams in implementing process, packaging or infrastructure projects in support of new product introductions, co-manufacturing projects, or internal Johnsonville projects to enhance the capability of our production lines (equipment efficiency, flexibility and capacity) * Provide initial project development including concept, design, layouts, cost estimating, cost justification, research and selection of the best equipment, and project submittals with timelines and contingencies * Total project management including capital request, installation management, project commissioning, cost analysis, training, documentation, project closing and regular updates to stakeholders * Work closely with internal customers (manufacturing, R&D, Logistics, etc.) to support them in the accomplishment of their goals and objectives * Ensure cross-functional stakeholder involvement throughout the total project process. * Successfully work with vendors, contractors, governmental and regulatory agencies (USDA, OSHA, DNR, EPA, etc.) to the extent needed for the completion of projects * Provide advice and technical direction as a support member for Johnsonville teams and members on an as-needed basis * Provide continuous improvement in the company's productivity pipeline and offer innovative ways to improve the company's performance * Facilitate and coordinate several projects simultaneously * Lead projects in support of efforts to constantly improve safety, product quality, maintainability, continuous improvement, and customer service throughout Johnsonville Education: * Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field required Qualifications: * Minimum of three (3) years' experience required in any combination of the following roles: project engineering, plant engineering or maintenance management * Demonstrated experience in the design and installation of process, packaging, and material handling operations * Proven track record of managing projects; experience in a USDA regulated facility preferred * Design/evaluation experience with ergonomics, human safety and food safety preferred * Ability to successfully facilitate projects in a team-based environment * Proficiency with Excel, Word and a project management software required * AutoCAD – 3D modeling * Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and innovation * Ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible by adjusting priorities * Excellent communication skills, organizational and follow-up skills External candidate: Apply on-line only at: http://jobs.johnsonville.com We value the diversity of our workforce and we embrace the principles of Equal Opportunity Employment.
