JLM is seeking a project engineer to support a prime contractor on a light rail extension project in Mesa, AZ. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an impactful project that will benefit the local community and be on a multi-million-dollar infrastructure project.

  • Create and update a variety of project controls such as change orders, RFIs, submittals and shop drawings
  • Visit project sites to evaluate progress and write reports accordingly
  • Work with subcontractors to review and process drawings
  • Work with subcontractors to update and track change orders
  • Ensure projects are progressing per the schedule and maintain
  • Support the estimating process through surveying
  • Support the project manager as needed
  • Assist and oversee various teams and report on their progress

Requirements

  • 4-10 years of construction industry experience
  • Light rail or highway/roadway experience is a huge plus!
  • B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management AND/OR directly relevant experience
  • Field experience is a plus!
  • Strong Microsoft office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Professional manner

Oversees the daily operational aspects and manages the strategic direction of engineering efforts associated with assigned MD Helicopters, Inc. engineering projects and programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. * Manages the operational aspects of assigned projects and programs including product and process improvement projects, in-service revealed issues projects, obsolescence and quality management, or critical customer issues. * Serve as project liaison between the MD engineering organization and internal and external customers and suppliers. * Develops and maintains standard project/program tracking metrics, and prepares status reports based on engineering key performance parameters. * Develops and provides strategic reviews and status of projects and budgets to leadership. * Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, schedule, financial, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives. * Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with management. * Continuously improves assigned processes to ensure the quality of products and services by enforcing applicable Company Policies and Procedures. * Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervised and/or mentors less experienced Project Engineers. Qualifications SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Rotorcraft experience considered a plus. * Ability to work independently and in larger teaming environment to support the Company and the Customer. * Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite to include: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. * Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. * The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required. * Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills. * The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team. * Access to Export Control Information required. * Regular attendance at the worksite required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's degree (B.S.) Master's Degree preferred (MS) preferred, in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or related Engineering field. * Requires 10 + years related experience, ie; Project Engineering, Program Management, Design Engineering, or other closely related functions in support of managing commercial/military helicopter products; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
