Merrick is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented individual to serve as a project engineer to join our growing team of employee owners!! Los Alamos is a small community located in the scenic high desert of Northern New Mexico near Santa Fe, NM. The area offers a wealth of outdoor activities, a family-friendly community, an excellent public school system and a low crime rate.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing custom solutions, mentoring a team and the outdoor lifestyle of Northern New Mexico. This team provides full service nuclear design solutions to the federal government (DOE, NNSA, and NIST), nuclear research, nuclear medicine, and the commercial nuclear power industries.

Scope/Key Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will work in a dynamic multi-discipline environment, designing systems and equipment for non-reactor nuclear facilities. The individual will direct a multi-disciplined team of engineers and designers, and serve as the primary technical interface with clients, project management, and procurement professionals. The Project Engineer serves as a liaison between the Project Manager and technical disciplines and is responsible for:

  • Assisting the Project Manager with managing scope, schedule and cost

  • Leading design activities and managing design deliverables

  • Ensuring client satisfaction and working closely with the client's technical team

  • Coordinating engineering disciplines and managing discipline interfaces

  • Managing project resources, managing technical changes and expediting scheduled activities

Required Experience

  • Minimum ten (10) years of engineering experience and five (5) years in Project Engineering

  • Background in nuclear facility design and engineering

  • Experience with DOE or NNSA projects

  • Experience with nuclear quality assurance standards

  • Experience with supervising engineers and designers

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Scheduling Software (e.g. MS Office, Primavera)

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills

  • Degree Requirements:
    Bachelor of Sciences in Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program

  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

  • Ability to acquire and willingness to acquire a government cleared is required.

  • Certifications: Professional licensure is highly desired.

  • Relocation will be considered.

VIEW JOBS 12/5/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-03-04T00:00 Overview Sealaska Technical Services (STS) is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team and will be providing program management and technical services in support of the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Laboratory. STS is a full-service engineering and environmental consulting company with a worldwide reach in the areas of environmental monitoring and remediation, national security, systems engineering, data management and analytics for both federal and commercial customers. Sealaska is an Alaska Native Corporation founded in 1972 and established by the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. STS is currently seeking a Project Controls Specialist to help support our growing technical team. We are open to candidates who may be based out of the Los Alamos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque NM area. The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for the coordination, preparation, monitoring and maintenance of project schedules. The schedules will require reporting at multiple levels of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). The development and maintenance of these schedules is done in close conjunction with the various Team Leaders, Project Managers and Department Managers, as required. The deliverables include bar chart schedules, progress curves, cumulative cost curves and resource histograms that are part of the Earned Value Management reporting system. Responsibilities * Preparing deliverables-based project schedules in various levels of detail, in a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in alignment with the project reporting system * Overseeing the day to day planning and scheduling activities * Resource loading and integrating costs into schedules * Updating and progressing the schedules as required by the project requirements * Assisting the Project Manager with keeping the projects on schedule and budget with realistic and achievable planning and scheduling initiatives * Monitoring progress against baselines and reporting on status in an Earned Value Management system * Highlighting resource or schedule deviations to the Project Manager and assisting the Project Manager in developing mitigation plans to minimize schedule impacts * Assisting the Project Controls Lead in conducting schedule risk analysis * Preparing progress curves, cash flow curves, manpower histograms, and manpower forecasting reports * Participating in engineering, procurement and construction planning meetings * Responsible for adhering to all health and safety policies and guidelines * Works closely with Engineers, Team Leaders, Discipline Managers, to plan and schedule the projects Qualifications Requirements: * Bachelor's degree or Relevant Technical Diploma * Engineering degree is preferred * A minimum of 5 years of related experience in a planning, scheduling and cost control role for government or commercial contracts * Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred * Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams including Engineers, Discipline Managers, Team Leaders, and Project Services * Additional experience in developing construction schedule, project reporting, cost control, procurement, contract administration, and construction management support is considered an asset * Proficient with project planning and scheduling tools especially Primavera P6 and COBRA * Proficient with MS Office Suite Other Desirable Knowledge and Experience: * Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to develop solutions to complex issues * Problem solving capability in the absence of procedures and guidelines * Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills * Strong oral and written communication skills * Demonstrates initiative and the ability to prioritize work, recognizing the need for doing thorough and complete work, but at the same time addressing the demanding schedule requirements Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Light Work) * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
