Normal Work Hours and Days: Office work hours are 7:00AM – 5:00PM Monday through Friday. Project hours are 6:00am – 6:00pm up to 7 days / week. Weekend work required to complete assignments is typical. Mandatory overtime based on seasonal workload and remote work settings. Frequent travel to remote projects sites, requiring long days/hours. |

Summary:Responsible to help plan, design, assess and oversee construction and maintenance functions on projects, under the direction a Projects Manager or designated engineering staff.
Essential Functions:- Help plan and design systems and structures and draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and to ensure conformance to specifications, using design software and drawing tools.
- Document, maintain, and track project reports including daily reports, labor reports, equipment utilization, safety reports, schedules, projections, and activity progress updates.
- Identify obstacles and challenges at the worksites and develop potential solutions to alleviate and issues.
- Read and review project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structure and material requirements
- Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities, using calculator or computer.
- Work timely with related departments including operations, engineering, and accounting, to accomplish project goals and targets.
- Assist the Project Manager in construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project sites, including transporting of supplies and materials needed to conduct work.
- Participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction.
- Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
- Help prepare or present reports, bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, and property and right-of-way descriptions.
- Provide technical assistance regarding design, construction, or project modifications and structural repairs to management and workers, as appropriate.
- Analyze proposed site factors and design maps, graphs, tracings, and diagrams to illustrate findings.
- Test soils and materials to determine the adequacy, strength, and necessary quantity.
- Confer with supervisor to determine project details and goals.
- Inspect project sites and evaluate contractor work to detect design malfunctions and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes.
- Plan and conduct field surveys to locate new sites and analyze details of project sites.
- Utilize scheduling software to prepare, update, monitor project schedules.
- Utilize project tracking software to track labor, equipment, and materials. (HCSS).
- Create, analyze, and update project budgets, margin projections, and over/under statements.
Other Tasks:- Monitor and help ensure safety standards on current projects.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably can also perform other tasks satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:Minimum:- One or two year’s construction-related field experience or two or more years training in engineering or related field.
- Some familiarity with cost control processes and purchasing.
- Experience with Microsoft word, excel, and power point.
- Must possess a valid state driver license.
Preferred:- Civil or construction management degree or related engineering degree or equivalent combination of education experience with one to two year’s construction management experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:- Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and the ability apply techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of goods and services in heavy civil construction and remote field work.
- Knowledge of and the ability to use a computer and software to record, track and design and analyze data.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved the heavy remote construction projects, such as structures and ice roads.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Ability to professionally represent the company to suppliers, venders, customers, regulatory agencies and the public.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in writing.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and prioritize workload based on safety, cost, and execution.
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate verbally with others.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Ability to meet design schedules with dependability and consistency.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment in prioritizing and
carrying out duties.
- Ability to wear protective clothing, as needed on project sites.
- Enthusiasm towards learning and developing within a team.
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic first aid in emergency situations.
- Ability to operate a vehicle to transport work related equipment, supplies and
materials.
