Primary Purpose of the Project Engineer position:
Assist the Project Manager in planning, directing and coordinating activities related to assigned construction projects to ensure the goals and objectives of the project are successfully completed within established time-frame and budgeting parameters. Assist the Project Manager in exercising functional authority for planning, organization, integration, and completion of assigned projects.
Specific Job Duties:
Provides leadership and support for the corporate safety program
Reviews contract documents to ascertain the scope of our work and any unique aspects of each particular assigned project
Sets up project files, schedules pre-construction meetings, communicates project scope and schedule to all stakeholders
Distributes project information and construction documents to vendors, subcontractors, field and shops
Coordinate coordination drawings process and/or system prefabrication as directed by the Project Manager (PM)
Participates in continuous department process improvement objectives to develop improved procedures and practices
Processes submittals and expedites long lead items to facilitate project workflow
Assist the Project Manager in providing work direction, resolving problems, preparing schedules and setting deadlines to ensure timely completion of assigned projects
Attend and/or lead project planning, coordination, progress and close-out meetings as required
Coordinate activities of department with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency and economy
Assist the Project Mgr. in assuring completion of all punch list items, submitting project close-out documentation and administering project turnover to the Owner
Assist the Project Mgr. in administering warranty issues during the warranty period
Complete duties as assigned and new tasks and projects as directed
Assist the Project Mgr. in maintaining cost controls and scheduling deadlines
Assist the Project Mgr. in preparing project cost projections and profitability forecasts
Review and approve vendor invoicing; review, approve and administer subcontractor invoicing and performance under the direction of PM
Assist the PM in preparing monthly progress invoicing for projects to assure positive cash flow
Identify conditions and/or events that affect our scope of work and profitability
Assist the PM in documenting, pricing and implementing resulting change orders
Formal education, certifications and/or experience required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical/Mechanical Technology or demonstrated experience that equals an engineering degree, or construction experience (installation or administration/management)
Successful completion of our corporate project management orientation and mentorship process, or demonstrated equal experience.
Physical requirements:
Ability to visit job/project sites and company representatives to review progress and scope of work
Ability to climb stairs/ladders to access job/project site areas as needed
Other requirements:
Punctual and regular attendance
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
Team player and positive change practitioner
Ability to read, analyze and interpret request for proposals
Ability to interact and clearly communicate with customers (both internal and external) in verbal and written format
Ability to implement instructions furnished in a written or oral format
Valid driver's license and ability to meet the company driver qualification policy
Ability to work on a team and interact with people
