Overview

Carollo Engineers is a nationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and conducts engineering work on projects, with responsibility and authority for budget, schedule contractual obligations, and quality standards

  • Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies

  • May have responsibility for several projects concurrently

  • Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other organizations and companies, requiring skill in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues

  • Has responsibility for preparing proposals, conducting interviews, and negotiating contracts with clients after selection

  • Develops and maintains significant relationships with client management personnel

  • Identifies need for and directs subconsultants performing services on projects

  • Active in professional associations, including presentations of technical papers, member of technical committees, and officer of local or national organization

  • Travel required when requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering

  • 8-12 years of experience

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer

  • Must have demonstrated ability and experience in the design and construction phase of small, medium, and large sized infrastructure projects

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project team

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Proficient in public speaking roles

  • Proficient in MS Word, Access, and Excel

  • Deliver high quality services within budget and schedule constraints

  • Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents in civil engineering and a good knowledge of related specialties

  • Experience working with water and wastewater facilities, wastewater collection systems, water transmission/distribution projects, reclaimed water master plans/studies, pipeline rehabilitation projects, pump stations, and reservoirs

  • Proficient in MS Word, Access, and Excel

  • Experience with Microstation or Autocad

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY Provide engineering expertise, apply broad knowledge of principles and practices in specific practice area. Assist the Project Manager in leading the team to success by completing the projects on schedule, within budget, and ensuring client and staff satisfaction. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Provide leadership with grit and character by being a good communicator, having interest in learning, be inspiring, a visionary, a team builder, live our Purpose, help achieving our Vision, allow others to shine, taking responsibility, leading by example, and being dependable, respectful, passionate and an active listener. * Supervise project production based on individual project timelines and assigned priorities. * Identify needs for equipment, training and other resources to efficiently meet production requirements. * Acquire and apply general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields. * Assist PM with project duties (serve as a secondary point of contact for project coordination). * Receive general direction on key objectives to design a complete project per the contract documents. * Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to assigned projects. * Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the engineering work necessary to complete primary project design elements to include project schedule, finances and projections. * Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments. * Work on multiple projects of moderate size or portion of major projects. * Receive guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. * Provide technical advice and or assistance as needed to project staff or discipline as needed. * Provide QC roles as required in areas of competency. * Serve as a discipline task lead on pursuits as requested by the Communities Group. * Assist in RFP responses as requested by the Communities Group. * Assume other duties as directed by Project Managers and Office Team Lead. * Support and maintain the morale, welfare, professional development, training and work-life balance of all assigned staff utilizing the Company's Character Qualities. * Comply with all company policies, procedures, practices, rules. * Serve as an example of proper conduct per Company Character Qualities. * Live our Purpose and help achieve our Vision. * Perform R&D Responsibilities as programmed in annual goals: * Dedicate Research & Development time as assigned * Promote innovative thinking and be receptive to advancements in technology. * Be a discipline expert. * Perform Community Responsibilities as programmed in annual goals: * Dedicate Community business development time as assigned. * Be active in an industry society(s). * Attend council meeting, commissioner court, breakfast/luncheons, conference as requested. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an ABET/EAC accredited program. * 8 or more years of civil engineering experience. * Registered Professional Engineer. * Relevant design experience. * Software knowledge (MicroStation, Open Roads/GeoPak, HEC-RAS, P6/Microsoft Project, SignCADD). * Signal design experience is preferred. * Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
