You will be part of a dynamic, growing and energized team and your role is key to the success of ECS. While your job duties may fluctuate day to day, here are some areas we expect to see you proficient in:

  • Building envelope and facilities consulting

  • Performing pre-construction, during-construction, and post-construction property condition assessments

  • Specialized testing, forensic investigations, and other facilities-related services

  • Designing of repairs to existing building envelope components including: roofs, curtain walls, masonry, EIFS, fireproofing and fire stopping, and pre-cast concrete

  • Report and proposal preparation and review

  • Budgeting daily and ongoing activities, as well as invoicing

  • Managing building envelope projects along with building engineering concepts

  • Marketing and development of a client database

  • Interacting effectively with and mentoring other staff members

What We're Looking For

  • BA or BS in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related degree

  • 3-5 years of related experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license required

We are seeking a Wireless Networking Project Engineer to join our Power Grids division and contribute to the professional services team within our ABB Wireless business. This person will work on the development and delivery of systems within our Grid Automation portfolio. Location for this role is flexible within the USA: this business is based out of our office in Raleigh, NC but we will consider telecommuting options for the right candidate. This position does require travel up to 50% across North America. Project Engineering consists of the development of systems and associated documentation for specific programs to ensure that the products and services provided meet all contractual and program quality requirements. This person will be responsible for project execution, contract compliance, customer satisfaction, and financial returns for complex and/or large projects. This person will be expected to coordinate activities and provide technical advice to project participants; this person will also develop, recommend, and implement initiatives to ensure customer satisfaction and improve performance. Your responsibilities * Plan and coordinate major projects in the Electric Utility and Oil and Gas industries. * Coordinates engineering discipline across several projects. * Provides technical support for testing, installation and commissioning activities. * Designs and conducts experiments, analyzes and interprets data. * Prepares complete project documents in one's area of responsibility. * Serves as a specialist in application of advanced concepts and methods. * Support proposal efforts by introducing and promoting innovation, cost saving ideas, and value-added solutions to the overall system design concept. * Assists in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects/programs (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc). * Perform field site surveys of new and existing transmitter sites to support detailed design activities. * Interacts with customers, officials, contractors and others. Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments. * Ensure timely contract completion, customer satisfaction and desired financial return. * Manage project risks to avoid incurring penalties, warranty repairs or other charges that may have substantial financial impact. * Provide technical direction and review decisions of staff performing lower level work. * Develops, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and tools. * Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements. * Reports processes and tools inefficiencies and suggests ideas for improvements. Your background * Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, etc.) with 8+ years of professional experience in Information Technology / Networking technology; OR * Master's degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, etc.).with 6+ years of professional experience in Information Technology / Networking technology. * Cisco Certifications (CCNA, CCDA, CCNP) is a plus. * Experience working with large-scale Information Technology [IT] solutions. * Recent hands-on experience working with wireless communication and networking technologies (e.g. Mesh Routers, Point-to-MultiPoint [PtMP] Radios, etc.) * Hands-on experience with ABB / Tropos Networks portfolio of wireless communication solutions is a plus. * Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. * Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
