Avid Technology is excited to recruit a new Project Engineer for its New York office! As a member of a large Americas Delivery team, you will be responsible for providing technical installation, commissioning, and configuration for the Avid hardware and software solutions at sites across the Americas as needed, included Canada, LATAM and Central America. You will work in critical production environments while maintaining clear communications with the customer and project team members.

Your missions

  • Plan, design, and document Avid project engineering engagements included third-party hardware and software solutions

  • Create drawings and other technical documentation using Avid Professional Services templates

  • Understand and follow Avid delivery process to drive quality and consistency

  • Work as a supporting team member with Avid Project Manager(s)

  • Provide technical management of small installations with little or no supervision

  • Install, commission, and test Avid and third-party hardware/software solutions at the customer's site

  • Participate in technical delivery of services in large and small projects as directed by the Delivery Manager and/or Project Manager to whom the Project Engineer has been assigned

  • Follow Avid's project delivery methodology to ensure reliable, repeatable project outcomes

  • Review project technical specifications and create assigned documentation based on Avid project delivery templates

  • Update and maintain system configuration documentation

  • Test systems according to Avid Professional Services checklists and/or project acceptance tests criteria prior to presentation of the completed solution to the customer

  • Assess the technical feasibility and successful deployment procedures of each project

  • Plan and manage the technical delivery of smaller projects without the assistance of a Project Manager

  • Investigate, track and resolve technical issues while on site

  • Document and escalate project issues to ensure they are successfully resolved

  • Ensure Avid Professional Services administrative documents are maintained in a timely fashion through Avid Professional Services tools as directed by Delivery Manager or Project Manager, including: Timesheets, Expense Reports, Site Status Reports, Project Documentation

  • Possible international travel required

About You

  • Post-secondary school graduate in one or more of the following fields: computer science, software engineering, network architecture and/or engineering, television engineering, or a closely related field

  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: video/audio non-linear editing systems, computer operating systems, data networks, client/server-based software architectures, virtual machine server environments, network-attached storage, storage-area networks, and asset management systems

  • Strong interpersonal, judgment, initiative, responsibility, and leadership skills

  • Proven analytical ability to discover, document, and troubleshoot complex software solutions, exhibiting superior creative problem-solving and technical collaboration skill.

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following operating systems and technologies: Windows, Windows Server, Macintosh, Red Hat Linux, and/or SQL databases

  • Excellent communication skills English and Spanish bilingual fluency is a significant plus

  • Organized, consistent approach to hands-on hardware and software engineering work

  • Ability to successfully create documentation using: Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and Outlook. Training in AutoCAD or similar computer aided design software a plus

  • Training or certification in industry-recognized standards such as MCSE or CCNA

  • Capable of taking direction and working with minimal oversight with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience with Avid video/audio products a recent internship or work experience in a media or entertainment industry segment is a significant plus

Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in a management role. PE, LEED, or CCP certifications are a plus. * Proven track record of successful project execution. * Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the willingness to accept accountability, solicit involvement from team members, and provide steady and fair leadership. * Strong financial and analytical skills. * Must be physically fit, able to lift at least 30 pounds, and climb ladders as necessary.
