The Project Engineer at Aqua-Chem will perform a variety of complex technical engineering assignments including specification review, equipment selection and execution of projects from receipt of purchase order through start up and commissioning. At Aqua-Chem, we design, build, and maintain industrial water purification systems. This is done by taking raw materials and purchased components to make completed systems. As a Project Engineer you will be able to see a project design come to life through on-site engineering, fabrication, and product testing.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm
Location:Onsite; Knoxville, TN
Pay Range: Dependent on Experience

Essential Duties
- Communicate and collaborate with the entire project team to work towards success (engineering, project management, procurement, and manufacturing)
- Interact directly with clients to answer technical queries and communicate / solidify design.
- Review technical specifications and exceptions/clarifications to evaluate scope, requirements, and determine execution plan.
- Size equipment to specifications as needed including Heat Exchangers, Water Pretreatment Equipment, Evaporator Systems, Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems.
- Specify and obtain technical quotes for non-standard components such as pumps, valves, instruments.
- Develop Project P&ID
- Perform calculations to meet code and regulations.
- Ability to act as the technical lead for the project team in a Matrix organization to include designers / engineers across multiple disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls (I&C).
- Develop test procedures from specifications and standard test procedures.
- Approve drawings/BOM's per established procedures with input from sketches, calculations, specifications, etc.
- Assist performance testers in equipment set-up and testing.
- Prepare test reports as necessary for customer review and approval.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, preferred.
- 6 + years of experience in Industrial Water Purification; preferred
- Previous engineering experience related to product design, manufacturing engineering or related experience required.
- Experience using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD a plus.
- Currently have PE or working towards PE certification is a plus but is not required.
