This position is responsible for coordinating manufacturing activities related to equipment fabricated at our Air Products' Port Manatee Facility in Palmetto, FL. The facility primarily manufactures heat exchangers that are used throughout the world to liquefy natural gas to facilitate transportation of LNG. Each project is unique and presents one-of-a-kind challenges.
This position is part of the Project Execution Group, which consists of Project Engineering, Proposals Engineering, Methods Specialists and Document Control functions at the facility. Due to the complexity of products and the uniqueness of each individual project, significant and continuous effort must be applied to coordinate the activities of the manufacturing process within the facility. The role includes being the principal point of contact for the coordination of activities with Air Products' Engineering Departments, Procurement, Business Area, Customer Representatives, and Third Party Engineers, Suppliers, and Inspectors.
You will be assigned multiple projects and will be responsible for schedule development, cost reporting and forecasting, monthly status reporting, risk management and mitigation. You will be responsible to ensure assigned projects are executed according to the existing facility Quality Management procedures.
Key skill sets required to be successful in this role include prior project management experience (preferably in metal fabrication or construction), an understanding of pressure vessel or process equipment fabrication, scheduling, cost forecasting, risk analysis, and experience using SAP. Additionally the successful Project Engineer must have the ability to communicate clearly and easily and influence the various departments within the facility to ensure established critical success factors and project requirements are met.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Single point of contact for assigned projects
Project schedule development and identification of critical path and risks
Management of project in accordance with the schedule and budget
Manage and Report Key Performance Measure for on-time completion
Monitor cost performance and identify gaps
Prepare monthly cost forecasts
Manage and report Key Performance Measures for cost performance and Cost of Non-Conformance
Identify risk associated with assigned projects and develop action plans to mitigate
Perform third party spec reviews and evaluations
Develop Project Execution Strategy
Coordinate and present Monthly Project Review Meetings to management
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
BS degree is required, preferably in Engineering or Business
Minimum of 5 years' Project Engineering experience, preferably with 2 years' experience in metal fabrication with an understanding of pressure vessel or process equipment fabrication
Minimum of 2 years' experience with scheduling and cost forecasting
Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive disposition even in times of high stress and workload
Ability to work effectively with a global team, interfacing with team members in various countries, as well as management in the US
Ability to work independently, being accountable for accomplishing work with minimal supervision
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to take initiative with an entrepreneurial attitude
Excellent written, verbal, computer, and interpersonal communication skills
