The Opportunity

We are actively seeking a Project Engineer for AGI Food group located in Joplin, MO. In this role, you will support and assist Sr. Project Engineer(s) and/or Project Manager(s) with major project initiatives. The responsibilities include the following on assigned projects: work across our key functions to ensure technical delivery, manage the development of the bill of material (BOM) including ensuring required parts and materials are procured on time and within budget, partner with the engineering team to ensure specified equipment meets the customer requirements and project scope, ensure utility & infrastructure requirements are developed, own development of Process Flow Diagrams and layout concepts. The role can involve support for feasibility or preliminary engineering efforts for clients as well as on site project engineering support and/or commissioning, qualification, and or validation assistance.

The Team

The AGI Food group is comprised of a team of Professional Engineers, Designers, and Technologists whose credentials span the electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical, and construction disciplines required to service the specialized needs of the food and beverage industry.

Responsibilities:

• Support site start-up team and troubleshoot issues when they arise. If required, work with vender technicians to remediate issues.

• Manage the procurement of process equipment and services for our projects. This includes ensuring BOMs are completed on time, preparing scopes of work, RFQs and evaluating bids. Evaluate equipment's technical functionality and fit and work with suppliers to ensure we maintain schedule. Assist with the development of Engineering Check-out, Equipment Acceptance Testing, and/or Start-up/Validation documents.

• Develop and maintain project plans and coordinate project activities in support of the Project Manager. Track critical path milestones, accomplishments, and results.

• Work directly with the process engineering team to create solutions that maximize the value to the client while respecting the budgetary constraints of the project.

• Evaluate equipment, process design and layouts for alignment to local regulations and standards.

• Maintain project budgets and forecast.

• Ensure that end-to-end project planning, risk identification, dependency tricking, issues identification / escalation, and change management are being managed appropriately utilizing best practice project management standards.

• Build relationships with senior leaders and other Program/Project owners; interact with, prepare materials for, and present to Senior Management as required.

• Gather and provide management with needed information and metrics. This will include: extracting/comparing/maintaining/analyzing data.

• Able to work flexible hours and multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic, high-pressured environment - managing changing priorities and tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Engineering

• 3+ years of previous project installation and start up experience is required

• Working knowledge of CFIA, FDA and USDA food equipment and design standards.

• Understanding food plant Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), area designations, clean design requirements and the impact to process and equipment layout designs is required

• Results orientated; ability to commit to and follow initiatives through to completion

• Proven track record of delivering continuous improvements

• Demonstrated ability to lead and perform formal root cause problem solving

• Local and international travel (approx. 25%) based on projects
