You just found it. William Paterson University invites applications for this part-time position, Project Employee, Summer Youth Programs.

This is a part-time position (20 hours/week).

Reporting to the Director of Youth Programs, the Summer Youth Programs Project Employee is responsible for establishing, scheduling, marketing, and implementing summer youth programming on William Paterson's campus, in consultation with the Director of Youth Programs and the Dean of the College of Education. The Summer Youth Programs Project Employee will engage in outreach to schools to determine needs and interests with regard to summer programming and will facilitate agreements with school administrators for cohort participant attendance. Academic enrichment programming is provided for children in elementary, middle, and high school grades. Recreational programming through Willy P Day Camp is provided for children of elementary school age. Professional and career-related certificate programs are offered for students in middle and high school.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Organizes Summer Youth Programs and develops appropriate methods for meeting goals and objectives.

  • Reviews and evaluates programs and procedures; develops and implements improved methods as required.

  • Provides budget recommendations for Summer Youth Programs activities; tracks costs/benefits of new programs.

  • Liaises with William Paterson University administration and faculty, school district and other organizational representatives to carry out Summer Youth Programs activities.

  • Prepares clear and informative reports on existing programs and proposals for new programming to meet community needs.

  • Prepares correspondence in the course of official duties.

  • Evaluates schedules of events and/or course offerings; recommends changes as indicated.

  • Maintains essential records and files for Summer Youth Programs.

  • Assists with the hiring of summer staff.

  • Organizes the acquisition, distribution, inventory, and security of equipment, materials, and facilities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

  • Minium of 2 years of professional experience in developing and managing programs in academic enrichment, career and college readiness, or academic remediation/support.

  • Expertise in project management, including strong analytical, organizational, project and program management skills.

  • Ability to acquire basic knowledge of the laws and regulations that impact youth programming and processes.

  • Knowledge and skill in budget planning, development, and administration.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
