The Project Director of the Modeling and Simulation Program (MSP) is responsible for leading all efforts related to the Department of Education grant. The objectives of this project are to develop an accredited stackable degree program model (including a certificate, an associate degree, and potentially an applied bachelor's degree); to expand and strengthen employer relationships in the Modeling and Simulation industry; and to develop project-based learning opportunities for all levels of the academic programs. The grant project ends December 31, 2026.

DIMENSIONS

Implements and manages, in accordance with established governing guidelines, the $1.07 million Modeling and Simulation Program budget funded by the Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education grant. This position is funded as project director through December 31, 2026, then is planned to transition to a full-time faculty position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Oversees and manages the Modeling and Simulation Project (MSP) funded by the Department of Education grant.2.Manages the day-to-day administration of the project; ensuring that the College meets all project obligations in a timely manner, assuring the timely, accurate preparation and submission of required reports, and conducting administrative operations in compliance with the project.3.Provides regular status reports on grant implementation in conjunction with grant accountant reports as required.4.Directs and oversees the development of modeling and simulation curriculum through college, state, and accreditation procedures.5.Assists in reviewing and recommending textbooks, other educational materials, including open educational resources (OER).6.Establish procedures for implementation of curriculum including the training of instructors.7.Serves as liaison between college and external partners by attending meetings, responding to information requests, and resolving issues that may arise.8.Expands awareness of the program to the community of potential students as well as employers by promoting the program through various marketing outreach efforts.9.Assures compliance with conditions of the grant by monitoring and analyzing agreements, contracts, grant expenses, and activities in terms of grant requirements and College and federal laws, regulations and rules. Take corrective actions as necessary.10.Instruct Modeling and Simulation program courses as needed11.All other duties assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Career Navigator, Modeling and Simulation Project

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Master's Degree (or higher) in Modeling and Simulation or related discipline (Computer Science/Engineering, Digital Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Geospatial Engineering) required.

  • Experience in curriculum and/or industry training development required

  • Project management experience preferred

  • Industry experience in Modeling and Simulation preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent project management skills related to planning, organization, problem solving and assessment.

  • Knowledge of modern grant administration practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof.

  • Knowledge of general curriculum development procedures, including state and accreditation requirements.

  • Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.

  • Ability to interact positively with staff, faculty, students and external agencies and individuals.

  • Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.

  • Attentive to detail, extremely well organized, able to work under pressure, and meet frequent and changing deadlines.

  • Ability to gather, analyze, use, and report data.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, faculty, and students. Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one and in small groups and to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to internal and external groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is performed in an office-like environment with a minimal amount of noise.
