THE ROLE

Tesla Motors is looking for a Project Developer to drive all phases of Tesla's Supercharger installations, including site diligence, contract negotiation, approvals, construction and close out. The ideal candidate will have impeccable interpersonal skills, work tirelessly to find solutions, easily adapt to external factors and internal guidance and be able to manage 20+ projects at a given time.

The responsibilities of this position may change over timethis role requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to the evolving needs of the project and the organization. There will be opportunities for career growth based on performance and interest.

This is a remote position that will require frequent travel throughout the region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine and manage comprehensive site due diligence.

  • Lead efforts to obtain all necessary approvals from utilities , and permitting authorities.

  • Work with attorneys to draft, negotiate and close landlord agreements.

  • Work closely with installation partners to assess and manage installation costs and timeline.

  • Create proposed site schematics and work closely with design engineers to optimize site layout and gain counterparty approval.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key deployment partners.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of project management experience, dealing with property owners of all types, permitting authorities, utilities and building contractors.

  • Willingness to travel up to 80%, as needed.

  • Understanding of site due diligence and installation design processes, and experience working with engineers and architects to refine and optimize drawings and plans.

  • Understanding of permitting and grid connection processes, and experience working with the relevant authorities to ensure a smooth path and expedited schedule.

  • Experience working with private and public property owners to negotiate and sign agreements.

  • Ability to anticipate challenges, take initiative and solve before they become costly to correct.

  • Ability to accelerate counterparty timelines which may otherwise seem inflexible.

  • Ability to function autonomously in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Proven track record of managing many concurrent projects on time and on budget, while adhering to the highest quality and standards.

  • Familiarity with energy technologies including solar and stationary storage.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.

  • Able to communicate effectively with people from all walks of life .

  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project.

VIEW JOBS 12/14/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-14T00:00 The Role We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support the Supercharger deployment team in California and the western United States. This person must have a construction background; general contractor's experience is highly valued. The role will oversee multiple construction projects and enforce budget, timeline, fit, finish, and safety requirements. A get-it-done mentality for all situations is expected. Responsibilities Get the most world-class Supercharger sites built in the shortest amount of time for the least amount of money. Provide related feedback to the deployment, development, and engineering team on how to design equipment and sites for better/faster/cheaper site builds. Help design and implement those improvements. Coordinates the timely processing and approvals of all shop drawings to and from subcontractors and architects/engineers. Coordinate with Project Managers to timely process change requests and change orders Distribute drawing and design revisions, bulletins, etc. to Project Manager, Super and all trades. Communicate effectively, both orally and written. Prepare weekly construction reports with photos, schedule, etc. Expedites project close-out requirements including municipal sign offs, as-built drawings, final project photos, etc. Maintain a high level of productivity. Balance a large number of concurrent tasks. Effectively prioritize efforts. Foresee necessary work, and organize and disseminate information as needed. Maintain project schedules. Requirements Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related subject and 4-6 years of increasingly responsible estimating and project management experience, or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability Thorough understanding of construction administration processes, including contracts, budgets, construction documents, change orders, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and material procurement. Advanced knowledge of construction means and methods Strong understanding of AC and DC power, transformers, circuit protection, single-line electrical and mechanical diagrams, and construction drawings. Excellent written and spoken English. Must have the ability to discuss technical topics with a variety of audiences – contractors, engineers, and members of various divisions within Tesla. Class A general contractor's license a plus but not required Available for extensive travel (50%+), often on short notice. Ability to obtain an U.S. passport.
