In support of the MBTA's Bus Facility Modernization Program, the Jacobs is looking to add a Project Delivery Manager to our team. The Project Delivery Manager will have the chance to provide project management support through a multi-year, multi-disciplinary program which will be transformative to the overall MBTA operation.

The Bus Facility Modernization Program will include the construction of several new maintenance facilities and the renovation of several others.

Key program elements will include:

  • Modernization of facilities such as the adoption of smart building systems

  • Bus fleet electrification (battery buses)

  • Workforce training

  • Exploring alternative program delivery opportunities (joint development / P3)

  • Public and stakeholder engagement

This Project Delivery Manager:

This position will be dedicated to the support of the Bus Facility Modernization Program. You will provide primary support to the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting the development and execution of the program strategy

  • Coordinating the activities between program disciplines, team members, and sub-contractors

  • Tracking and reporting on project status and financials

  • Preparing and reviewing program documentation and communications

  • Supporting the development of presentation materials for internal and external briefings

  • Direct client contact on program matters

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Planning, Construction Management or appropriate related field

  • At least 5 years professional experience is required

  • Public sector experience preferred but not required

  • Being detail oriented and the ability to work independently are essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to communicate complex issues to various audiences are critical

  • Strong capability with Microsoft Excel for use in generation of internal and client reports

  • Experience with project planning, scheduling and progress reporting

During your time with us, you will work on projects including vehicle procurements, vehicle overhauls, reliability / process improvements, technology assessments, and other related efforts in support of clients in the transit industry. You will coordinate / oversee the activities of more junior team members and sub-contractors as appropriate based on project assignments. You will be responsible for tracking and reporting on project status and financials in line with client and internal requirements. This Project Delivery Manager: Provide project management and technical support to a variety of assignments. * Role will include project management and engineering support of procurements for new transit vehicles, transit vehicle overhauls, and various task assignments. * Responsible for resolving design and system integration issues on transit vehicle projects. Project Manager will support both office and field based activities, including technology assessments, writing specifications, evaluating vendors, design reviews, troubleshooting and problem resolution, testing support, and failure investigations. * Track project status (including finances) and prepare periodic project progress reports. * Support senior team members in preparation of cost estimates, development of work scopes for new project work, and other related efforts. * Support preparation of technical specifications for functional/ sub system/ testing/ maintenance & training requirements for vehicle or subsystem procurements or overhauls. * Perform technical reviews of vehicle and subsystem design for transit fleets, analyze requirements, and prepare review comments for disposition of Contract Deliverables. * Perform oversight and witnessing of factory testing of vehicles and subsystems prior to approval for shipment; log discrepancies and prepare reports for status of system testing. * Monitor field implementation and testing activities for a range of transit vehicles. * Support system integration of vehicle subsystems and complete vehicles from different suppliers for compatibility and functional performance. * Assess performance and specification compliance for vehicles and subsystems. * Have familiarity with vehicle and subsystems from key suppliers in the market in order to perform detailed design reviews of product and system submittals. * Direct client contact on project matters #BIA * BS Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or appropriate related field) * 7 years total experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, or project management * Experience with public procurement is strongly preferred * Being detail oriented and the ability to work independently are essential * Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences are critical * Strong capability with Microsoft Excel for use in generation of internal and client reports * Experience with project planning, scheduling and progress reporting * Experience with vehicle fleet procurement programs is desirable * Basic knowledge of transit vehicle industry standards, systems, and practices is desirable Jacobs Engineering Boston MA
