Job Title: Project Cost Accountant II

The Project Cost Accountant II supports the Private/Public Construction Operations and Estimating departments as part of the Business Analysis team to ensure management has the tools and information necessary to improve financial performance, eliminate waste and build a better community both internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate research, analysis and reporting on the financial performance of Private/Public construction projects.

  • Schedule and Conduct Project Reviews with PM's/DM's/VP's.

  • Work with the Operations team to maintain accurate job quantities and costs, including subcontractors, extra work, and potential change order items.

  • Maintain current forecasts for all active jobs, collaborate with Ops/Finance to address any areas of concern.

  • Works with Accounting to correct costing issues identified during Project Reviews.

  • Assist in monthly billing process by highlighting potential Under/Overbilling items and unprocessed RFP's/CO's

  • Creates and Clears exception reports designed to maintain data integrity and business process compliance across systems.

  • Provide Monthly Bridge Analysis for all projects by division in conjunction with Manager of Business & Performance Analysis

  • Ensure existing systems and processes are properly aligned for efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness.

Job Knowledge:

  • Strong finance/accounting background.

  • Strong computer proficiency.

  • Has expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.

  • Experience selecting and implementing financial systems preferred.

  • Knowledge of relational databases, SQL or Business Intelligence platforms such as SQL Reporting Services, Tableau or similar preferred.

  • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the Construction, Mining or related heavy equipment industry required.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * Bachelor's in computer science, computer engineering or related field. * 2 years of experience in a related area * 2 years experience in at least one of these frames works: C#, SQL, ASP.Net, PowerBuilder, HTML 5.0, CSS, or JavaScript Frameworks. * 2 years experience in front-end frameworks such as: MVC, Ember, Web Forms, Angular, KnockoutJS or Node. Js. 2 years experience in middleware pattern such as: REST, Class Libraries as a Layer, WCF or SOAP Web Services. * 2 years experience in data storage technology such as: Microsoft Entity Framework accessing the data, Relational Databases (SQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc.), or NoSQL Technologies (Hadoop, Mongo, etc.) * Be able to describe the above in a logical software stack. * Understanding of unit testing concepts and frameworks preferred. * Ability to be self-directed. * Familiar with an Agile environment. * Participation and familiarity with open source projects is a plus.
